Call of Duty: Black Ops

What are your guys' favorite load outs for black ops?

I'm currently using the Famas, the AK-74u and the Galil (the latter which I just unlocked a couple nights ago and used for the first time last night). Not sure between the Famas and Galil, but I'm leaning Famas I think.

I'm liking the 74u for close-quarter maps like Nuketown.


BTW, what's the deal with C4 in black ops? I finally "bought" some last night to give it a try and I had two problems with it:

1) I hit the up arrow button and my hand switches to a trigger device, but I hadn't planted or thrown any C4 yet that I know of..? Click the trigger and nothing happens. How do you use it?

2) Numerous times in the middle of a firefight I had to reload my gun and out of nowhere my hand switches to that C4 trigger thing which causes me to die.

if i remember right, the aiming button (left trigger on xbox) throws C4 down, and right triggers blows it up

I don't know when or for how long but I happened to be window shopping in the PSN store last night and noticed the 4 BO map packs are on sale (or permanently reduced?) for $10.49 each, down from $14.99.

This must be a last push for sales before BO2 comes out.

I don't know why anyone would want to waste money to play maps for 2 weeks. Should make it lower than 10.49 to sell them off that close to the next release date.

MW3 is not nearly good enough to keep traffic from going to BO2 (like MW2 did).


Hopefully Type-MRC starts playing again, he crushed BO. Jong will go back to struggling with lower k:d's

I was just throwing it out there, in case anyone cared.

I was tempted only because I have a couple coworkers who I play BO with occasionally and they have the first two map packs and I get booted whenever their lobby plays a map I don't have (like Stadium, Convoy, etc.).

So MW2 actually kept BO traffic down a bit when BO was first released? Is that because many felt MW2 was better?


PS - nobody here knows struggling with low k:d like I do.

Stadium was a good map. But otherwise BO expansion maps were usually brutal IMO. Cheap quick releases for more revenue. Large problem since MW2.

And yes MW2 was epic. I delayed switching to BO for a bit, and came back to it from time to time. Many friends disliked BO and just played MW2 until the hacking over took the game. I put more time than I'd like to admit into MW2 (still no jong/solja) but for the duration I owned it was a lot.

Plus nuking kept the game interesting for lots of people. None of these gay "support" killstreaks you see now. Undermines the purpose of killstreaks to me. Tries to bring balance for crappier/rambo players.

As one of the crappier players, I can tell you that it's appreciated to have at least something in the game that's obtainable and achievable.

You probably have no idea what it's like to suck as bad as I do, or did (getting better now, slowly gradually, but the first month or so was bruttal). When you're continually owned, and then always dumped in a lobby full of prestieged players, it's hopeless... completely hopeless. There were days where I wasn't even sure why I bothered to log on at all.

But at least the various unlockable perks and weapon proficiencies and attachments etc. keep things interesting. If there weren't support killstreaks, I wouldn't have been able to contribute anything to my team. (But I'm experimenting now with assult and specialist streaks... I've even earned a predator missle or two recently).

If you are having trouble do what I did when I was learning.

Switch to hardline and that way your assault streaks are 2/3/4.

Tons of people in MW2 would try to set up pred/harrier/gunner without the skills to get them.

Even jong only does uav/pred/choppper with hardline on. Plus he milks everyone hard for their Uavs

Wrong! if you do not have stopping power on mw2 then you are as useless as bringing a knife on a gun fight, always use stopping power on mw2, always.

I found that to be the case in COD4. As soon as I switched to stopping power (from uav jammer), suddenly I could actually kill people and survive head-on encounters. I could even take down guys using Juggernaut.

SOH, not bling? Does that mean you're good with the iron sights? Or just using RDS and nothing else?

I almost never ever used bling. But my classes were dependant upon what I played. My skill level went up the most playing HC tdm/s&d ricochet. Learned to not rely on UAV to see people and be smarter because you die super easy (granted thats all lost with my rambo jong parties haha). But its what made me play 10 sensitivity and destroy faces with the UMP.

But yah SOH or scavenger were the common ones. Scars iron sights are really easy to use, same with the ak47. Even the M4/M16/ACR I lived with it. I'd prefer to use something other than a red-dot sight with my gun.

Even now the only gun I use attachments on is my defense/noob teammate class. recon/assassin/sit rep. then scar attachments silencer + extended mags. I use the scar for a combination of power/accuracy/natural sight


edit: gg = good game = you got pwnd
guessing you haven't done much cpu gaming. SC/CS/D1/D2/WC3 etc for the game lingos

Always better to use the iron sights as long as they are decent. No point wasting an attachment for an rds if it's not needed. Most of the time I'd pair my guns like the Tar-21, ump, scar, p90 with a silencer. Perfect iron sights imo.

Tar-21 in MW2 was amazing. By far my favorite weapon to use.
