    Default 4k redline?

Driving to work this morning and all of a sudden I go at the lights and when the tac gets to just before 4000 RPM the car starts bucking like it's not firing or a really bad shift and the check engine light comes on. So now any time i get near 4000rpm the car jerks so I am granny shifting all the way to work. When I got to the parkade I put it in neutral and revved it up to 6000rpm without any issues. Any idea wtf is going on?

Yeah its in limp mode. Throw the codes and get whatever's wrong fixed and she'll go back into vtec mode baby. Its weird that it popped the CEL after this happened though. I'm pretty sure Its the CEL that puts the ecu in limp mode

Could also be a fuel pump/ injectors fail? If it's not sending enough fuel it will cut at a certain rpm

    Plug leads?
Don't know if that car has individual coil packs or not.
You could say that again. Booze just kept flowing. We walked home (tried to plow at that elgin monument hill park thing) haha...too cold, but that explains the night.

Put the car in on position without the engine started and plug in a code reader

Auto Value can scan your computer for free and give you the code that is causing your problem.

well I got the car home and next time I took it out it was squeeling like crazy. Took a look under the hood and it was coming from either the A/C belt or the altenator. Removed the A/C belt and the squeel continued. Turns out the tention on the altenator belt was loose.
