Canon G2 Digital Camera opinions?

I really want to be able to get good macro's. I have been using a Canon S100 and like it but want something with more options and better focusing control. I also would like decent optical zoom/2X lense accepted.
whadaya think? input. Anything else I should look at?

I'm kinda stuck on Canon. I've suprised some people with what the little 2.1Mp S100 can do. here's a few shots that it was able to capture(PS perfected).

Canon makes the best Digital Camera (Panasonic and Olympus are very good also). Don't know much about Fuji, but I heard really great things about the Canon PowerShot G2.

I found the G2 for $480 US on the net, but it's like $1200 at future shop!! I've got to get some connections.

I was at Future Shop the other day actually looking at Digi Cams. Didnt see the Powershot (Well, was looking at the 600-800 range, so didnt really look at the more expensive ones).

Grab that cheap one if you are serious about buying it! Can't let a chance like that go!

Here's some awsome macro's from a Canon S40 or S30:
They're and $560 US $448 US, respectivly.
but $970 and $775 at Future Shop.
So the G2 from the US sounds like the best value if ordered from the states.

Oh, and YES, buy it! Futureshop is too expensive, check out saneal or vistek if you want to buy in Calgary. (there's other stores, but I've never been to them...)

On-line will be cheapest, but I'd be careful when buying something so expensive.

If it's lots of control and excellent macro capability that you want then go with the Nikon 5000 or the 5700. There really isn't anything better on the market for macro capability than these two nikons, plus lens quality is superb. Panasonic cameras are utter crap, except for the newest one which uses the Leica lens.

Those S40 samples that I posted above would be sufficient for me, and the G2 was rated better at Macro then the S40 so I think it will be good.

I had use of a Canon S100 and was amazed by the quality from such a small camera...

I invested in the latest S200 and from what I have seen and heard it is a wicked value and really really good performance for its size...

Here's a couple of things to keep in mind as well. The Nikon camera heve one of the best color managment systems in the market so you do get better overall quality from there too.

Try the Nikon 775, or it's newer model (forgot what it's called). They are more in the price rance of the S30/40 and you still get the macro and the color management system. Just not as much optical zoom.
