Default A Sign of the Bad Times

Well roughly one month past, the one year anniversary of my last love passing (see C32 Written Off ), my new relationship is being put to the test.

This first picture shows how she looked after her first time thru a winter storm.

On Thursday May 13, I managed to get struck by a sheet of plywood flying of the back of pickup truck on deerfoot.

A nice dent in the fender and a-pillar are shown in this pic.

From another angle, the wave in the top edge of the fender shouldn't be there.

Look at the tool box and then its reflection. A nice deep creased dent in the door.

Nicely scuffed 3m on the mirror, Insurance appraiser said there was a crack in the shell (I can't find it)

Who cares what’s behind you, parallel parking sans mirror = not good times.

So that was the result of plywood (I think it was) vs. Benz on deerfoot. I got the guys plate and it’s been reported as a collision so it’s going thru insurance. Monday the 17th an insurance appraiser looked over my car, and came up with 5g + the cost of new 3m (hood needs new 3m, fender had full coverage, and mirror). Insurance wasn’t happy with his figure and told me to go get a 2nd quote.

I have been away for work all week and got back Friday night. So what’s the first thing I do, pull my baby out and go driving.

Sunday night going to meet up with some friends I decided to stop at crowfoot liquor in crowfoot. Go in, and when I came out this is what I found.

Someone backed into the passenger side of my car (perpendicular to the stalls), and several harsh dents.

So now what do I do? Its bad times, I don’t know if I should get rid of the car and just drive a beater in this city or what.

Bigger question is do I report the 2nd incident and file a comprehensive insurance claim, or just hope that the new estimator will had it to the first claim so that I am not affected by it. (Totally dishonest, but right now I’m starting to question my honest attitude) I must be doing some douchebag shit without evening knowing it for all this to happen.

claim hit and run on the door.

You should get one freebie as long as it doesn't happen again in the next 3 years.

The glass got blown out from the force of impact.

I did as Benyl said and reported the hit and run, and filed a claim. I am looking forward to hearing what's going to happen. Now its going be a question of how well they can fix and repaint that side of the car.

I wouldn't say it's a sign of the 'bad times' but rather of 'bad drivers'

I thought this is what insurance is for?
    Get it fixed.

I was one lane over on deerfoot when that piece of plywood hit your car. I saw you chase after the pickup to get the guy's plate/get him to stop. Did the guy even bother to stop? Regardless, glad to hear you were able to get his plate and put it through insurance.

Didn't bother to stop. Just looked at me thru his window with a blank look on his face.

I think your car might be cursed , two hits in such short time I feel for you, hopefully your insurance doesn't give you grief for the second hit. Good luck.

When it rains, it pours man. I managed to get a sidewall tear in the front passenger tire of the M5 last night. $840 later, I have new front tires. $840 I would have liked to have in the bank instead.

Well at least I'm not alone in all this. Only good news I have is that I don't plan on being in town much this summer so my baby will be staying safe in the garage. Not fair for the car, but life's not fair. Hahaha. Managed to drive is all winter with even a single rock chip. Then when its nice it all goes to shit.

Yeah, some road crap hit my right side lower front bumper, and cracked the plastic.

AAAARRRGGGG!!!! God it sucks, really feels bad.

    Wanted to kill something.

A few days later the emotion passed, but everyday till I got it fix, I would feel sad everytime I looked at my car.

I totally feel for you, it is a really sucky feeling.

Having a nice car in this city is a waste. Too many dumb inconsiderate people. It's as bad as Toronto now.

I gave up and just bought a silver pickup truck.

If you claim every time something happens you will be paying insane insurance for many years.

I just got home from the police station. I wanted to kill the officer working. So fucking rude. He asks me what happened so I tell him to the best of my knowledge and then he proceeds to say "well I have a hard time believing that someone would just hit your car and run" then his whole tone when he was doing the report. I was tempted just to ask for my stuff back and go else where to report it. To cap things off he then says "you will be lucky if your insurance doesn't drop you" like seriously what did I do.

I would like to think the best of ppl and blame it on the crappy weather putting everyone in a bad mood. But seriously what a fucking ass hat. No wonder ppl hate CPS. I would almost rather pay for anything out of pocket in the future then deal with ppl like him.

I am leaning in the direction of buying a year round beater and making this a weekend warrior. Been driving for 7 yrs now and before I got these nice cars I never had a single claim or collision.

a beater is the way to go if u can afford the insurance on both cars. i had one and drove the shit out if it and didn't care wat happen to it. ever since i got into accident back in december im down to one daily driver car. i drove my new car for one winter ohh man, u wouldn't beleive how many rock chips i got, hood, bumper, fender, doors it just a eye sore lookin at it. i use to try to keep it in tip top condition but driving it in the winter just ruins it. now i just try my best to maintain it the best i can until i have enough money to respray + 3m.

I've learned not to drive nice cars on Deerfoot. There's always trash strewn all over it, and shit flying off people's cars.

The worst is the blown semi-trailer tires.

LOL My friends used to get on my case about not driving my nice car out. Now I shall point them in the direction of this thread. If you like it, you should drive it. It is a car and it is meant to be driven, but boy when your baby gets hurt it hurts me deep down inside. That is why I am driving a year round beater, however I do want to get something fun, but I will most likely go used. Something with a few flaws in it already might make me less worried about driving it all the time.

I used to decide which car to drive based on how wide I thought the parking lot was. If it is a Walmart, Superstore, Costco, or most malls for that matter...Honda for sure! With that said I do keep my Accord in pretty good shape for its age and mileage.
