    http://www.ktiv.com/Global/story.asp?S=12176112

A University Heights police officer worried about an unrestrained child in a vehicle he pulled over purchased the boy's mother a car seat.

Officer Don Strong said he spotted the boy bouncing in the back of the vehicle while on traffic enforcement duty on Thursday. Strong says the boy's mother told him they had an 80-mile drive to Knoxville and no way to secure the child.

After trying to locate a car seat elsewhere, Strong and the family went to the Walmart in Iowa City and the officer bought a car seat for the boy.

Strong says the $60 cost was "a small price to pay for the child's safety."

It's an investment, spend $60 today and look forward to earning a lifetime of traffic tickets for your gang.

CPS would've definitely gave her a ticket instead.

So much for natural selection, stupid mother=stupid child, the blood line was going to end soon with the child being killed in a car accident, now thanks to a dumb ass cop the blood line will continue.

I now feel like I went into shock. I started breathing heavily and lost my sense of what was going on.

Wow and you guys still bash the cop...

How many of you can say you would have gone out of your way in that situation to help someone out like that, and with your own money.

    What a nice guy,
Sounds like he didn't make the cut for firefighter and got stuck being a cop.

"Anarchism is not a romantic fable but the hardheaded realization, based on five thousand years of experience, that we cannot entrust the management of our lives to kings, priests, politicians, generals, and county commissioners."

But it wasn't his own money, his earnings are stolen from the public. It's like calling the first astronauts heroes when they're actually opportunists who couldn't get into space on their own dollar, they had to steal from others to do it. I'm sure the woman has paid for the car seat hundreds of times over already.

Let me guess... you are a freeman of the state too.

I am surprised you even drive given that the roads were paid for by money stolen from your income.

not only would cps ticket her but probably involve child welfare to open up a case number on the kid. and the cop while kind in this one instance will probably be reimbursed by the department for all the positive press this is getting them. further more now he will be hated by his fellow officers for setting the bar way too high and for making them look like douchebags when they have to appear in court to defend the tickets theyve written by a judge, whenever a sob-story mom decides a ticket wasnt fair and fights it.

Think maybe cps will ever offer to remove your tint for safeties sake? their are public service jobs which unfortunately cops are not in, they are in the business of enforcement, of policies made up by the most corrupt and unaccountable people in society today; our politicians. this is akin to mob-collectors, they have no morals of their own to recognize unjust laws and are only "doing their job." much like german soldiers who never thought about their individual impact. /rant

but this cop probably is a new cop and probably wont be a cop for too long. guys with this set of morals and self "righteousness" for lack of a better word, dont last too long in corruption unless they too fall victim. like someone said hes probably just waiting to be a firefighter and couldn't get in right then.

Maybe he did get reimbursed (i didn't read the whole article)... but the fact is he still went out of his way to help someone, which IMO counts as a good deed. He could have done it the easy way, gave her a ticket and told child services about it, but the fact is he didn't.

What kind of fucked up morals do people have nowadays that they can bash a police officer for going out of his way to do a good deed for someone?

EDIT: Nowhere in the article does it mention him getting reimbursed, and to my knowledge i don't think police officers carry around company VISAs?

It has nothing to so with morals, relk...it's just about beyonders who love to hear (read) themselves and bash others...anyone...just to make themselves feel superior, more intelligent. Ironically most posts only serve to prove that the opposite is the case.
