Default Secret Street For June 11

Well it looks like the weather is going to break for Friday June 11 and we are hoping to get the Secret Street event in. If we will not be running we will be posting by Friday noon here and on the Race City site or you can join our facebook page at "Calgary Secret Street" for updates.

Last week we didn't have a perfect reaction time (yes it's .000) so we will be holding that again this Friday only with a twist. The first perfect reaction time will get last weeks prize as well as this weeks prize. Kind of like "Skins" in golf. So 2 free tech cards and 10 free spectator entries. So come on guys and gals, lets work on your lights.

The Pit Kitchen will be open with their World Famous barbecued hamburgers, as well as snacks up top in the spectator concession.

Hope to see you all there.

And don't forget as you are going through tech to drop a loonie or more in the VHT Fund can. You can't miss it, it's on the tailgate of the silver Dodge truck right at the start of tech.

The last 2 weeks have been really slow for donations & we are going to run out of cash for buying VHT quickly!!!

VHT costs about $5/liter & we use 18-22 liters for a Friday night. If the donations don't kick up from what we got the last couple of weeks, we will run out of money by the end of the month & you can say goodbye to traction!!!

OK, AWD is fine for a 14 second car with no power but anything faster than that needs to be able to stick to the track.

Maybe what they should do is charge $6 dollars for spectating and $26 for racing so the fund can get filled and once we have enough then stop charging

    Default Secret Street

Track was a bit squirrelly at first, but settled down after a few runs were laid down. I had several 13.2's at 100-101 MPH, which is very good for my Beetle at Race City. Still trying to get that 12.9 ET...will change up the launches a bit next week.

Seemed like a lot of newer mustangs, including a modded shelby cobra that did 11.6 at 123 on drag radials.

Also saw a diesel pickup do 12.9.

2 3-series and 1 1-series bmw, all in the 13's. The quietest one (a 3-series) was trapping 108mph!!Anyone know the mods?

Really nice black 1st gen Camaro doing 12.0.

Neil you are running the old bug? Probably one of the most unique sounding cars I have heard there.

Somebody brought a new Viper, but only ran a mid 13s pass.

Some cool cars though. Wish some of the guys from Performance-Shop would bring some of their 8 and 9 second cars there for secret street instead of going to down to med hat.

Also WTF is with the turbo Challenger, it is sooo slow for someting with a massive turbo V8. He must have $10,000 in mods into that car and it gets beat by mustang gt's

That viper was beautiful, but yea, mid 13's at only 110mph. Very weird. Zane on P-S has a newer viper with bolt ons (headers, etc) and it did 11.48 at 129mph.

The Challenger is supercharged. His mph was just ok at 110mph, but his street tire were useless.

The '68 Beetle sound comes from combining the flat-four VW engine with Weber IDA's, straight cut cam gears and Magnaflow muffler.

    Neil,

So it's a 1.6L still in that car?

I thought that was Concept1's beetle.

That Viper is bone stock, and is rated 100 hp STOCK less than Zane's, plus Zane has mods.

I think Zane ran 12.0@123 in Calgary on Drag Radial. The 129 was in Medicine Hat. The guy with the white/blue one is new at launching a Viper and did nothin but spin.

The Challenger guy needs help driving. He has been getting better week after week, and his shifts are finally just "ok"... should be a quick car with tires and a 'driver'.

It's a '68 Beetle that I've owned for 20 years...I'm the second owner. The original '68 motor was a 1500 cc, but I've bored & stroked it to 2332 cc. There's not much room left inside the block to increase displacement much further, so that's where it will stay. I might add nitrous some day...we'll see
