    Default Solution to n00b accounts

What if the number of posts per day for a newbie is restricted? Pick a number, say 3 per day.

The number of allowed posts is increased after x number of days or weeks, or with the number of legit posts made. This would be kind of like the graduated driver's licenses, where you don't get full privileges right off the bat.

It won't stop all the stupid posts, but it will reduce the volume.

its just a restriction that would be built into the newbie setting. not a bad idea.

I saw a link to J-body.org from an unrelated post and noticed they had a 100-posts-per-month limit for newbs. However, a per-month limit could easily be abused.

Good idea, restricts them to post necessary things, instead of garbage pointless stuff.

unless the sole purpose their signing up is to post garbage (ie other peoples cars), which is the leading cause of newbie banning

yeah, but one of the main problems is people posting pointless things day in day out...this will just restrict that problem, there will always be other problems.

Should just limit the amount of new people allowed per week.

That'd be cool. Limit new users to 1 post per day until they get 500 posts (not counting posts made in Lounge and Ask Leo). And if they're still around after a year and a half, they've probably learned to behave! Hahaha!

i agree with u guys n such but im sure there are some newbies that do know waht there talkin about and restrictin might not be the best thing and it takes awhile to get out of the newbie setting so i dun think restrictin is the best way

I think restriction is a good idea, but only in Ask Leo.
The rest of the forum they can post as much informative information as they want.

yeah they might just make a new id and start posting crap all over again. great idea but I think the answer to this question would be add more mods on the boards. and start some public bannings that would fis there little red wagon.

What about a member/poster rating? Where a higher rating gives you full access to the amount of posts per day, and a lower rating brings in restrictions. Let everyone start off at a top rating, and once you start abusing the board other members which are at a specified higher rating, can vote against you. And for any of the high rated members that wish to abuse this power and vote against someone just for the hell of it, automatically ban them.

Right but then suppose I say GTS_Jeffs poll on lube is useless, and he should take a rating hit - but then someone else that knows him says it's not the same as a noob posting it, and then mods are involved deciding if the rating hit is legit - and presto you're back to being moderated.
