Unhappy Seeking some help/advice for our sick puppy of 2 years

We have gone through alot of measures, including alot of different vets, emergency vets and high vet bills along with exploratory surgery and different types of food, to try to find a diagnosis or reason but havent come out with any luck. He has been on different meds in last while including metranidozole, prednisone, probiotics and vitamin B12 to name a few.
Our pups symptoms have been mainly pure diarrhea which led to a prolapsed bowel, not wanting to eat because of it and losing alot of weight as a result. We have been on a terrible roller coaster ride the entire time, where he isnt as bad and then gets worse, but at this point he has gone down hill quite bad and nothing seems to work to get him to eat, he is mainly skin and bone ... the vets are left stumped as nothing came back from any of the tests they have done through out this entire journey.
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or may have gone thru it or knows someone with a similiar story or even a vet that is willing to help us out. At this point, anything could help -Thanks Lisa, Paul and Ryver - our pup

I am sure you have tried this, but just in case.
We sometimes have to feed our retrievers on kibble and it just flows through them. When we feed raw meat dog food , their stool is firm , doesn't stink, and easy to pick up. We use Urban carnivore, or you can pick up different flavor meat patties from Pet Planet.
Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck with the little guy.

Have you gone to the Veterinary school in Saskatchewan? Long drive but they have a lot of specialists there... and lots of equipment/ability to run strange tests etc...

I am assuming you have probably seen specialists though already?

Have you tried cooking for him? No kibble etc... not sure if you tried the raw. I know some people who cook clean food for their dogs.

I agree with the raw diet. If I were a dog I would definitley prefer food that wasnt dryed up pellets. It is not much more in cost compared to dry kibble. Hope all goes well with your pup.

I would pack up the dog and a his entire medical record and drive to Saskatoon, if they cannot solve the situation, you know you have done all you can. This is what they do.

You need a referral from your local vet., so ask for it.

I did a pet sitting gig for friends a while back, all there cats and dogs were on a brown rice and raw meat diet, all mixed together at about 50/50. Never seen such a clean and smooth coat on a pet. I was impressed and would look at this if I was to get a dog or cat.

I am not saying this diet change is the direction to go at this time, you need proper medical advice from a good vet with experience in these matters. There is a solution, gotta keep digging for it.

Did you call or drop by the Humane Society? Their vets would have seen it all and might have some clue as to the direction. You need to have all the medical records with you.

Sounds a bit like my dog, turns out she was allergic to grain and/or corn. We switched her to a Acana Pacifica food and she has been absolutely fine since. We also only give her grain/corn free treats, nothing else, no people food.

    Good luck man.
