Classic Apple move. Include a feature that your previous model was obviously lacking, call it revoluntionary, raise price, profit!
Apple anoys the shit out of me with crap like this.

Would you rather they didn't include the feature? What part of businesses making profit annoys you?Originally posted by ExtraSlow

Then don't buy it. Simple as that.Originally posted by ExtraSlow

Looks good! But you might as well get an iMac
I am an Apple fanboy, and I've always wondered why the Mini didn't have HDMI! That Dell Zenvo HD (or whatever it is called) can do HDMI and that thing costs less than the mini.
Yeah I've been considering getting a Mac Mini for a while now just as a small media computer to hook up to my tv, but it bothered me that there was no HDMI. I just assumed they did that on purpose to differentiate the Mini and AppleTV. However since they've raised the price, I think I'll pass on it.
I was just about to ask if there was any non-Apple equivalent without the Apple price premium, but sneek answered that. Looks like it's called the Zino:

If you just want something to play movies on your TV, look at something like the Western Digital Live ($120) or look into a good netbook or cheap laptop for $500 or so. Both can stream full 1080p along with the 5.1 audio tracks.
Yeah I considered those options, but I also wanted something with a bit of juice I could edit photos on or go online with.
WDTV live does not do AAC audio.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

Don't worry, I don't. I haven't bought a single apple device in my lifetime, and that isn't likely to change. I've looked at them, and never been compelled. I'm now an iHater.Originally posted by Zephyr

And it's not the profit that annoys me. It's the fact that they deliberatly release products without key features, so that they can release a "new" version without doing any additional R&D.
Come on, the iPhone without video? and iPad without a video camera? Theres no technical justification for this.
Seems that all the competition in the rest of the electronics world means that companies are striving to release the very best, most feature packed products they can. Apple has some nice design, and excellent marketing, but it always looks like apple is just behind the competition on a technical level.

I use this as a HTPC and have been very happy with it:

I also use it for travel, backing up photos, and also for running the software/devices necessary for subwoofer calibration, display/projector calibration, and vehicle diagnostics (VAG-COM). Hasn't missed a beat so far. If you want to do any hardcore photo editing on it though, it might be a bit slow.
It's also great for surfing the internet, watching movies on planes, etc.
Why would you get an iMac to use as an HTPC?? That makes no sense at all.Originally posted by birz

I def agree with ExtraSlow's comment about the ipad not having a camera, I know it's big and ppl argue u don't need one but since apple introduced facetime or whatevr, I certainly expect them to include it in the new revision. even the iPod touch has been seen with a camera and should have included one by now, but no, apple will offload the old ones to students in the summer and put a camera in the new rev, as they promised to have other 'facetime' devices by fall/winter. in this sense they are always behind in tech but their business strategy is fuckin excellent!
