Don't print off job offers at your work for other places of employment, you never know where they may end up. I just had it handed to me by a lady that likes me, but still
I epically fail at life atm. That is all.

^ yes. You're going to be by the boss in a few hours. Start packing your stuff up.
Or your current place wants to keep you and offers you more money. Worst case is you have a job offer you can accept.Originally posted by TYMSMNY

I had a boss look over my shoulder once when I was surfing Monster.ca. Pretty embarassing.
In my defense, our company was going through wholesale changes, and nobody could tell me what my role was going to be in the future.
....I'm still here.
why would you do this at work anyways? read, close, print off laterOriginally posted by HiTempguy1

I don't work in a cubicle per say. I thought it would be fine to just print off the sheet, read it, and file it away rather than have it up on my computer. Proved me wrong!Originally posted by adam c

HOLD print is your friend... set in printer defaults
I'm still here, the boss doesn't actually work in my office (he's in Edmonton). As long as the lady who likes me doesn't give a damn...
That's okay, I just found a posting that my GM just printed off...
I think it's fair for anyone to look for jobs at any time as long as it doesn't cut into your work time.
Haha nice work man, i'd feel awkward after that for sure.
To add:
Don't photocopy your resume and then leave it on the glass.
Or better yet, don't do a phone interview on a company line that is being recorded. Yes this happened in my old work.
it's amazing how many people don't know the capabilities putting a pin number on a print job. most printers can do this, and should be used more often
I'm new to corporate/business life, all of my previous jobs have been labour. I just finished my edumacation, so this is my first office job. I am no doubt an idiot though!Originally posted by dandia89

Pretty pumped about the job offer though, Alberta Research Council
Also keep in mind that some Copiers can cache what documents are scanned/copied... and IT can view said documents...
all you have to do is pull the HD and you can see pretty much everything that was printed, depending on the HD capacityOriginally posted by Anomaly

i didn't mean to single you out, but it seems like this situation happens often. If only some co-workers or even the IT department taught new employees the basic and important functions, it could prevent any invasion of privacy.Originally posted by HiTempguy1

Internet-connected printer/scanners will dial to the authorities if you start scanning cash. (someone did this as a joke, and ended up costing him his/her job)
I find that hard to believe, what do you have to back this up besides you heard it from a friend's cousin that worked with the guy down the street? Most likely someone told you that to scare you into not doing it...Originally posted by revelations

I'm going to find each and every one of your little internet friends!
I now feel like I went into shock. I started breathing heavily and lost my sense of what was going on.

Had something similar happen to me at an old job, except I was printing off resumes in order to apply for a part time weekend job.
I accidentally sent a copy to the wrong printer. The accounting bitches handed it in to my manager. Nothing was said to me.
I was let go the next week. In the exit interview, my boss told me that I was obviously unhappy working there. I asked why he would say that, he responded by pulling my resume out of his desk and asking me why I was applying for other jobs of I was content working there. The look of shock and confusion on my face when I told him that I was applying for a part-time weekend job likely told him that he had made a big mistake. You could tell he must've felt like the biggest dick after that given how the rest of the interview proceeded.
It was ultimately for the best that I got out of a place like that though.
