New York nighlife

so me and a buddy will be travelling to New York in late August to early September for a music festival. We plan on staying for 8 nights.
Besides the usual tourist attractions like Empire State, the Museum of Arts etc. we want to try and explore the nightlife in NY.
Unfortunately we are both only 20 and not of legal age there.
Has anyone personally been in Manhattan when they're under 21 and tried to explore the nightlife there?
I know there are 18+ clubs there and what not, but I'm just wondering how much of a restriction being 20 is there.

Sick, your lucky. The two music festivals i wanna hit are the Electric Zoo in NY and the Electric Daisy in CA. Ultra music festival in Miami wouldn't be to bad either...

Some of my friends are leavin for EDC right away here, some already left. Next year I'm going to ultra!

I was in Ft. Lauderdale on the Friday that Ultra kicked off this year, but couldn't make it as me and my buddy had travel plans beyond that. It sucked so much being so close but yet so far away...

ID is usually pretty strict at most establishments (especially clubs....). On occasion you can find a smaller place as mentioned above but usually they too will ask for ID before serving any drinks.

Most of the clubs in New York ask for ID to check your age. You might be lucky if they won't and allow you a drink or two. Keep your fingers crossed and make the most of the nightlife.

Bumping an old thread rather than making a new one.

Background: I'm going to NYC in November for a football game, meeting a buddy there but he isn't there till Saturday, where as I get there on Thursday.

I have 2 nights (Thurs and Fri) and a whole day (fri) on my own.
I'm staying at a hotel in Times Square

I think I can fill the days with sights and touristy stuff.

However,as for nights I'm completely overwhelmed with where to go and what to do, alone at that.

I'm 27, single, like lounges with scotch and martinis. It seems pretty easy to wing it, I just don't want to regret missing something epic because I didn't know about it.

Where should I go for new years??? Bottle service will be mandatory and how far in advance will I have to book? I would prefer hip hop rather than anything electro.

We're both 24 and asian, 1 m and 1 f, there are waaaaaay too many clubs in NYC to choose from its overwhelming. haha

The main after hours club in NYC is Pacha. Webster Hall for teens but huge club. Kiss & Fly. Greenhouse. Amnesia. The doors are pretty tough in NYC. Find a good promoter and stick with him, promoters will get you through the door and free bottle service, shared with whomever else he/she brings through the door.

Where are you guys staying and shit? We got an apartment in "lower manhattan" i think, near where most of the partying is from what im told haha.. Zoo only goes until 11 but i bet it will be a bitch to go anywhere after anyway..


Edit: i guess its not lower manhattan, but chelsea/flatiron district haha...
