Default Looking for a close fish hole/pond

Taking out my little cusin and wife out fishing for the first, looking for somewhere close from the city, somewhere where we can catch trout and have a good time. I want to have a good introduction for him, so im not takin him to and rivers ect...I usually river/stream fish but with a little one it might be hard...

So im thinking maybe a nice stocked pond or somewhere where the fishing is great, and he can actually catch something..Anyways if you guys dont mind sharing some spots id really appreciate it

    Chris

Try Chain Lakes south of Longview. It's stocked with Rainbow Trout.

Use smaller Panther martin spinners with a few split shot weights higher up on the line to get it farther out. Cast Diagonally from the shore where the rocks are on the south side of the lake. I have also caught lots below the dam on the south end.

    Good Luck!

Allen Bill Pond out by Elbow Falls/Bragg Creek is 20 minutes and fairly easy to navigate around. They stock it too so they have fish in it.

Dewitt's Pond west of Airdrie might be worth a look. There's also a pond right at Spruce Meadows that is catch and release. Believe there's also a kid's trout pond in Carstairs as well.
    Will fuck off, again.

Yup! This is a great choice. You'll catch fish there for sure. Can even sit right on shore (there's benches there) and just use kernel corn on a hook. Cast out 3O feet and sit back and relax. You can limit out with nice pan-fry sized 'bows. There's picnic tables and a nice sandy area for little kids.

Spruce Meadows has a stocked pond that is free to access. Use the East entrance.
Another good spot is Midford pond in Cochrane. Its close to DQ and Tims or you could go for McKays after.

Be sure to make sure you throw back any bull trout out of chain lakes. You keep one of those they'll crucify you.

Anyone have any experience fishing in the Glenmore Reservoir? Apparently there are some pike and brown trout to be had...

I have heard that too but fished there 2 or 3 times with my Grandad and never caught anything. That was a few years ago though.

I haven't fished in a while but Pike are pretty easy to catch in Chestermere from off the dock. Might not be as easy/comfortable from the public areas though (rocks), and you are very likely to catch some kind of fish that has been mutated/deformed, or mutilated by a boat prop.
