Default My first "classic"car, paint opinions needed

I just could not resist buying this, still don't know why.

Its a 1971 Cadillac Eldorado convertible.
    -18.6 ft long
    -8.2l 500 cubic inch V8 365hp 535ft lbs torque
    -front wheel drive.

Its in very good shape for its age, allmost zero rust, its from Texas.

The car was repainted its original colour once in its life, now i would love to repaint it black or white, what do you guys think? The green keeps the car looking original and correct for the era it was built, but as you can see today it looks ugly and dated.

I don't want to ruin the resale value, but it may be more desirable in a more common colour,i don't know either way as this is by far the oldest car i have ever owned.Who knows with my car A.D.D if i will even keep it long enough to bother with a repaint, but so far the old pig's growing on me!

    Open to any opinions!

if you dont want to ruin resale, then leave the paint or paint it the same color.

believe it or not but factory colors are more desirable to collectors.

I think a future buyer for this car would be a collector, and it would probably be best to leave it that colour.

But on the other hand, black caddys are sick.

This. Actually, I prefer the green over the other two colours. Just polish and wax the hell out of it to make it glow and you'd have a real head turner.

Keep the paint the original colour, it is what makes it even more unique. Nothing worse than a car repainted and a different colour on the firewall, inner door and inner trunk. For what it is worth, I like the colour combination.

How many of these cars came with your paint and interior colours?

If you're going to do a proper repaint (everything), black is the way to go, or two tone... a old friend just picked this beauty up a few weeks ago

If your going to repaint I'd say go black and have EVERYTHING that is green repainted so there's no odd spots.

Glad to see lots of you like the original colour! It was a optional "firemist" paint colour,i'll just try a good cut/polish and see what happens, the colour is beginning to grow on me.I just don't want to totaly ruin the originality of the car.Black would make the car look sick though.

Unfortunatley fitting this model of car for any aftermarket rims is very costly, because of the front drive the rims have a crazy positive offset, makes for having to go with a custom set of rims to look right, companys make rims for these cars but cost a small fortune.

Flat black with some nice rims. Gloss would be cool too, but flat black with some badass rims would be killer.

For wanting to repaint it. That flat olive color makes me want to stab my eyes with a pen.
Fuck sakes... acid was one helluva drug back in the 70's to be sure.
