Default WTB: Loctite 518 or 510

Trying to locate a place that sells either Loctite 518 or 510 for an engine rebuild. Would rather not pay $26-$31 a tube at Acklands Grainger when I know you can get them online at a regular retailer (not a specialty or discount store) for $11.

Gregg's distributing sells it as well.

Another comparable product that you can get at most motorcycle dealers is

    ThreeBond 1104

it is a case/flange sealant, there is also yamaha brand yamabond.

I even hitchhiked to the library once cuz my parents were too lazy to drive me haha. Ya, I'm a nerd.

Isn't Permatex the same stuff as Loctite? I read somewhere that Permatex is a bunch of former Loctite employees.

    Loctite 510

    Permatex

I actually have a tube of the Permatex red stuff in my toolbox. Most parts places (even Crappy Tire) carries Permatex.

Unfortunately, yes, most places sell Permatex. However, I'm using it for dressing engine gaskets and seals, and most of the enthusiasts are quite specific about which type of sealant should be used. In fact, there was a bit of a heated discussion going on as to whether Loctite 510 or 518 should be used because of a slight temperature range difference and wording (I think 510 does not mention aluminum or something).

Anyways, just hoping to find someone in town with it. If not, I'll be lumping it in with my massive parts order from the states, but I'd rather get it sooner than later.

I'll check with Gregg's, maybe they'll have something. Thanks!
