Stampede Midway Accident!
I just got a call from my brother about a midway accident. Apparently some ride came apart and some people were injured. Anyone else on the scene now?
edit: The ride was "the spider" or something, the one with an arm and 4 chairs attached. The big arm broke while running and the people fell with it.

KNEW IT!!! i saw one of those machines smoking black smoke (probably burning oil, or dirty oil). I dared my friends to ride that because of the burning/smoke.

These rides are never inspected nor are they required to. It's fuckin lunacy.

I remember that ride 5 or so years ago called G-Force which is very similar to Ride Out but much bigger. Some sort of accident that caused the entire ride to just sit there not running for the remainder of Stampede.. ouch. This has got to be one of the worst stampedes with all the horses dying, bad weather and now this.
I try to avoid going on the stampede rides. They all look pretty old and badly maintained.

Stampede-goers watched in horror Friday night as a malfunction on a midway ride apparently flung riders into the air.
Soon after it happened at about 8:40 p.m., Stampede officials said five people were injured after falling from the Fireball ride.
Some were listed in serious condition, though none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
Police shut down the LRT at Erlton station to aid the evacuation of the injured.

But I have a colleague I went to school with who travels with them and they are very strict regarding the safety of their rides. Yeah, there was an accident and it is the responsibility of the midway, but both your comments regarding "the rides are never inspected" and "they are inspected by minimum wage roadies" aren't valid. Most of these guys are trained.
Not here to be your enemy man, but I just wanted to state what is true, and what is just assumptions due to this accident and whatever stereotypes exist. I know in some of your posts you feel the Stampede is a giant rip-off and run by a bunch of robbing monkies, but a lot of these guys are good people, just some who are scum.
