are you guys satisfied with the quality of the phone? do you feel like the phone is going to last you at least a year before it craps out on its own? Im skeptical to buy a korean made product, but yet very very interested in this phone. are there known problems?
ie) lg neon - slider would always mess up the phone, screen cracked easily. these problems were the biggest and most frequent.
rogers has the dummy phone on display. i asked the guy about pricing on the captivate, dude was like its not the captivate its just the galaxy s, i was too tired to prove him wrong, i let him have that one lol.
I can't say much about quality considering mine and my friend at work both had ours die. Since repaired. Other than that I like the phone. It seems ok as far as durability etc. Probably my first and last Samsung phone however.
Agreed with Zedge. I sold mine recently and probably won't buy another Samsung for at least a few years until the quality improves.
Interesting feedback, mine is still going strong, I feel like its a great product, with the gorilla glass I think it should last quite some time.
What's the latest 2.2 and Bell compatible radio?
So many threads to wade through in the xda forum and I have not had a minute to keep up with it for weeks.
Want to upgrade, see if it can help my freezing at home issue due to having almost no signal in my house.
People on XDA have had success with the following:
pit = 512
pda = jpk
csc = bmcjh2
phone = ugjh2
re partition
I tested this exact same setup and had battery drain issues. The JH2 modem doesn't work well with jpk pda. Ended up using the JPK pda with JPK modem.Originally posted by spike98

Do you retain the 850 3G band with the JPK modem? I have heard that some people do and some dont. In my area i NEED that band or else i just revert back to Edge.Originally posted by 2000impreza

I did manage to get the 850 band working with the JPK modem. However it took me several attempts. IIRC I had to downgrade to JG8 firmware followed by restoring the product code to BMC. This is prior to flashing the JPK PDA, modem, and CSC. Flashing from JH2 to JPK directly caused the 850 band to be disabled. Also downgrading to JG8 from JPK does not restore the product code even though the android OS lists BMC as the product code. You have to run an adb command to re-install the product code to correct this other wise the 850 band will remain disabled when flashing to JPK.Originally posted by spike98

I posted a better write-up XDA but unfortunately the forum crashed shortly after causing the post to be lost. lol. Either way, this device is too much of a pain in the ass to get working right.
HTC Desire it is... I wish we got the desire HD or the Evo 4g I'd rather sacrifice some performance and gain more quality from it.Originally posted by 2000impreza

BTW...what phones are you guys using now? (the ones who ditched the galaxy s)
I picked up a new HTC Desire as a replacement for the Galaxy S. I have no complaints so far. Very similar to the Nexus one that I regret selling a few months ago. IMO HTC mobile devices are better quality in comparasion to Samsung. My HTC Touch was still going strong when I stopped using it after 2.5 years.Originally posted by l/l/rX

Very similar to the N1, but how does it compare? I think i would prefer the N1 due to the notifications from the track ball. I am switching to either of them but i have never used the Desire.Originally posted by 2000impreza

How is sense? Is the phone laggy with it?
I prefer the N1 over the Desire mainly due to better dev support and the stock android OS. HTC is also extremely slow at releasing the kernel sources. Overall I don't mind the Sense UI and don't find it laggy at all. Personally I prefer the stock android or AOSP based rom. I tried a few different versions of AOSP roms including cyanogen mod 6 and find them to be buggy. Reverted back to a stock sense rom.Originally posted by spike98

For hardware differences the desire has hard buttons and track pad while the nexus has soft buttons and track ball. It comes down to preference here. I prefer the Nexus one setup as well.
