Samsung Galaxy S

This phone is the shit hardware wise and is beating everything so far -- and its everywhere

I was about to pull the trigger on a nexus one on ebay, but while waiting for the clock to countdown so i could make sure i win -- i started looking at galaxy s reviews

In my opinion it doesn't look as good as nexus one... and many say it has a very cheap - plastic feel... but you can't really beat the cpu/gpu power of it... the smooth multitouch (most accurate touch ever?) and etc.

So! Its coming to bell, i read somewhere 6th of August for X price
And I'm wondering if i should pull out a new contract or buy it straight.. not sure where from (ebay?) or bell themselves?

Currently have a Nexus one but keeping an eye on this one. There are versions coming to all carriers. Bell, Rogers, and Telus afaik.

In fact this phone has a great pocketable size and much easier to use due to the screen size. Quality of videos and photos are very good.

Supposedly the galaxy s is for bell only or so I was told; I could be wrong.

Got my hands on it today for a bit. The display will blow you away, its that damn good; it doesn't feel cheap at all. From what I know, it comes only on Bell on August 8th.

Saw this, not sure, could be rumor still. If Rogers gets it also, it will likely be different than Bells. Likely the same as the AT & T Captivate. I like the look of the Vibrant better though.

I read in a couple of places that some carriers carry different versions... some have LED Flash and front facing camera, and some don't

I don't remember where, but i also read something that hinted bell will have neither?

Any ideas?

Btw -- you guys go for buy all out or do a 3 year contract?
I know on some phones, 1 year contracts are offered, thats not too bad

I played with this phone yesterday and LOVED it. It is ultra snappy, but the looks are only okay. To be honest it looks very "iPhone wanna be". I think I used the Vibrant, but that AT&T one is NICE!

+1 ... first thing that happens would be to get a new rom on there -- or stock android which is why i don't really care much about the software because it'll be the first thing to go

the vibrant is the t-mo version, which will work with WIND here, the ATT version should work with rogers, fido (telus and bell on 3g bands only)

I was just getting ready to pull the trigger on the Sony X10 when I saw this was coming. Now I am waiting for whatever version Rogers will get. Rumour has it they will be getting something similar to the captivate in September but I can't get anybody at Rogers to confirm or deny this

Different carriers will get the different versions, but it doesn't exactly equate to the radio bands. Obviously Bell is getting the Vibrant version, just like T-Mobile. (which are of course incompatible bands)

Just had my samsung rep come to my store and he had the galaxy s on him. We hit him with a lot of questions and the phone will be 149.99 on a 3 year voice and data.
It has a front facing camera which can also be used to take self portraits.

The screen is very clear. Looks similar to the 3gs as far as size but a bit bigger. Might grab this phone too!
