Default Fair Labor Time / Rate to install new springs.

I called around today trying to find someone to lower (both ends) my car. 4 calls, 4 different answers to the hours needed to do the work.

Ranged from 2.5 to 6 hours including alignment.

If you have had a shop do this locally and were happy with the service can you let me know where and how much they are charging?

The 6 hours seems a little bit ridiculous and the 2.5 seems too quick to fit the 4 plus get the alignment done.

    Any suggestions?

2.5 is reasonable. I have done a set of lowering springs before in my garage with a jack, air compressor and spring compressors and it took about 2-3 hours, so it should be quicker than that for a fully equipped shop.

I would do the springs yourself if I were you then take it to a reccomended alignment place, I don't know any but I bet someone here does.

2.5 hours is pretty good. Depending on what kind of car it is, that's pretty cheap, as most shops will charge an hour for just an alignment. If it's a professional looking shop and they seem to know what they're doing, I would jump on it.

What exactly do you mean lowering? Did they install aftermarket springs all around only, or coilovers all around, or what? If they charged you $500 for labor that's a lot more than 2.5 hours worth of labor, so OP got a better quote..
