Default Looking for a Rec Hockey League

I've been put in charge of organizing our winter rec-hockey team this year.

Previously, our team has played in the NCHL and CAHL. Both leagues have their pro's and con's. Just seeing what other leagues are out there in Calgary.

To provide more info, we're ideally looking for:

    - Weeknight ice times (preferably Monday - Thursday before 10:30pm)
    - Div E

If you know of any other leagues in Calgary let me know!

No winter rec leagues have ice times before 10:30 haha..... in the past 3 years in the NCHL (div A or B) we've only had a handful of games before 10:30 with most starting at 12:00 or 12:15 (which sucks BTW).

I know lots of people don't like the NCHL for the penalty limits/suspensions but I personally really like it. Keeps all the Sean Avery wannabe's in check and usually keeps the game from getting too far out of hand.

We were in the NCHL last year and had 50% of our games on the weekend, most of our ice times were out in okotoks or chestermere, and ice times started at 11:15 (horrible!)

i do agree though, nchl does a good job at keeping the games in check.

HNA. Biggest Mens league in Calgary, and apparently anywhere period. Leagues in every major hockey city.
Doesn't have the mickey mouse NCHL penalty ---> penalty shot rule. The most teams & divisions, increases parity.

We play in the WRAHL. Our latest time was 10:30 last year. That was twice. The rest being 9:30-10:15. We have a contract with an arena now. So we play same time (10:00), day, place every week.

Played in HNA for a number of years. I hated the times with HNA. Played a summer in NCHL and sub on a team there. The rules with NCHL suck.

I play hna and the guy that runs the team runs the league. Yeah the icetimes suck but that is to be expected in any mens league.

HNA has 50% of ice times before 9pm and 50% after. Their not like that SCAM league NCHL who package prime ice for more money.

I am in need of good players. Ideally defensemen. Let me know if you are interested in playing in a good competitive league.

I would avoid HNA at all costs. Sure you may have a time at 1000pm once every so often. But your driving to cochrane, indus and shitty arenas throughought the city to do that.

On top of that the league is not run well at all, the officials are brutal, and all in all the whole league is a joke. There are several leagues in the city and IMHO I would join any of them before HNA.
