A simple, inexpensive laser level
1. Picture hanging supplies (small finishing hammer, stud finder, proper hanging nails and supports). This seems a fickle thing, but you'll thank me when you're not having to hang pictures with your framing hammer and left over nails.
2. Hammer with effective prying capability (i.e. Stanley Fat max 20 oz. at least.
3. Good tapemeasure (Stanley Fat Max 16' at least).
4. Hacksaw
5. Several flashlights
6. Power tools (Drill, Skill Saw, Dremmel)
7. Several Extension cords. High end, tough, and long.
8. A nice pair of leather work gloves.
9. Level.
10. Square and Speed Square.
Welcome to the adventure. I really like the Stanley Fat Max line-up of tools. I have a hammer, hacksaw and tape measure of this brand and really like them all.
You can find good deals on power tools at pawn shops if you are just looking to have the basics on hand and not have crispy brand new stuff.

Fire Extingusher....Everyone should have one! Cheap Insurance. Also familiarise yourself with how to use it.

Pop rivet gun and plumbing strap!
absolute essential for me is an emergency plumbing kit. Make it easily accessible and know how to sweat fittings. Another crucial step is to know where your house water shutoff is
My emerg kit has:
-A handful of end caps and joiners and elbows and a couple feet of copper, in various diameters
-couple taps
-butane torch
-solder
-flux
-pipe cutter
-hacksaw
-few pex-to-copper connectors and a few feet of pex pipe.
This kit has saved me twice in previous houses, You always get some catastrophic failure at odd hours when nobody is open or around...you need to be able to stop a major water breach or divert it or something temporarily to avoid major floodage.
And a good wet capable shop vac is always a bonus.
Most house problems can be held at bay until the hardware store opens...except plumbing.
It's also a good idea to run through your breaker box and make sure everything is labelled properly.
One of those small ac voltage testers is good to have as well. The ones that light up or beep when they come near the wire....no stripping necessary
do u know how to use these tools? dont buy things you dont know how to use otherwise they will just sick and be a total waste of time. If you dont know what tools u need probably just wait till the job comes about and then buy them.
