Do we have 93 octane in the city? what gas station would carry it?
sorry dumb question, just wanna see if a station here carries it.
TIA

that's 94octane with up to 10% ethanol...........Originally posted by djayz
Husky and Mohawk
Yeah but it's all we have over 91.Originally posted by MGCM

Yeah I think Husky/Mohawk is the only place in the city with gas over 91 octane.
But even if you were looking for 94 octane in the city, seems like a lot of the Huskys are out of 94 octane. I went to 3 different Huskys in the North West and they were all out. I drove by some others as well, and I think I saw a small sticker saying they were out of 94 octane as well.
If this is for your Bullitt, it's an NA motor, which means in Calgary if you have a 93 octane tune, you can use 91 octane fuel. Our air density is quite low compared to sea level.

Depends on if you are running a MAP based car of a MAF based car.Originally posted by sillysod

With a MAF, you can probably get away with lower octane here in Calgary at stock boost levels.
A MAP car makes the same power here as sea level by upping the boost.
Also, on a hot summer day, it is better to be safe than sorry...

Usually true, but depends on who tuned it and what they know about our elevation.Originally posted by rage2

if I recall correctly, the timing tables are already based on load... so they will already have more timing cause of the reduced air density measured by the maf.
Then, in some processor codes, Ford adds a barometric pressure adder, upto 4 degrees at our elevation.
It SHOULD learn the mixture with 94 ethanol, I would just run that.

My car is chipped and the turbo is running at max boost pretty much all the time under full load, I notice 21psi in calgary and seem to get around 23 - 24 psi on the coast.Originally posted by benyl

I never get to run my 93 program because of our lack of 93 here. Kinda shitty.
I just have never heard of people running tuned cars on lower octane then their tune, that's why I asked.

gotcha
thanks for that rage
just a noob question while we're on topic...
my gf filled my tank up with 89 octane and i have a 93 tune. will 1 tank of 89 hurt it that bad or should i drain it?
I think you should be okay as long as you don't rip on your car. If you are concerned maybe get a bottle of octane booster.Originally posted by rampagesauce

Toma, so you think some aftermarket 93 octane programs may adapt to 94 octane, depending on the software? That's only if the program accounts for our elevation, right?
if you have a 93 tune and you're running on 89, your ECU will likely just pull timing to compensate for the bad gas. I wouldn't rip on it either. Is it a turbo car?
Off topic but along those lines, Sundance Husky is out of 94 and their mid grade too.Originally posted by V6-BoI

You can run your 93 program using 94 octane fuel.... Plenty of Husky's around the city.Originally posted by sillysod

Your 93 program on Shell 91 should be fine as well.... IIRC you have an APR chip, which will more then compensate for the differences.
