Default Ovearheating due to poor coolant flush?

    Quick question,
A coolant flush done wrong...could this result to engine overheating and then on top of that the oil overheating.
I dont have a radiator cap but only the resavoir cap. drained all the fluid, flushed it out, put the heat on high and ran the car as i filled it up with coolant. (as per a DIY i read)
Problem was, the resavoir would bubble up and start spewing coolant out of the tank it would get so high. Then when the engine cools down after being turned off the tank is empty.
Either way, I now have a car that had the coolant temp that passed the mid mark. Not by much but i kept a eye on it and then the engine oil started getting just past half.
On a side note, my engine oil temp guage has always read at about 1/4. Is this normal or should it be at the half way mark?

    Thanks in advance.

ok wait a second? your running the car with no rad cap? you NEED a rad cap to keep the coolant system pressurized.. lower pressure = lower boiling point.

If you're running the car with full coolant and rad cap on and your reservoir is "boiling" or bubbling and overflowing... that could be compression leaking past your head gasket into cooling system. Bad news.

What happened to cause you to flush the system?

Thermostat for an A4/S4 is 90C; right at the halfway mark. If your car runs any lower than that, you probably have a bunk thermostat.

There's no reason for it to be bubbling like that as you fill.

And I hope you are using G12.

Faulty rad cap, bubbles in the system, or the flush may have screwed up the thermostat, or worst case scenario -- the water pump or head gasket are done.

Fill it up let it run for a while, the bubbling and it coming out Is probly just air in the rad. Keep an eye on it as it will keep dropping as air is released. Or does yours have a bleeder screw?(which car is this on?)you want to open up the highest point in your system.

mechanic pin pointed a leak in the overflow drain hose.... says could be anything from a bad cap to a bad heater core.
eitherway, selling it for under 5g so i can get on with it. Someone will make a pretty penny buying it, fixing and selling but i just dont have the time.
