Default The Official 2010/11 Snowboard Thread

well since there is a ski thread already i figure we need this one too.

i think this season i am going to do some more traveling around instead of the same old sunshine every weekend. doubt i will get a season pass, probably just a few hill cards.

what is everyone else's plans for this season?

Hopefully I will get out and ride this season. My snowboard sat all day, every day, last year.

I personally like Louise. I was thinking I might buy a COP pass and do night riding there. If the terrain park is as good as I remember, might be worth it. And then just head out to Louise or wherever on the weekends.

i was thinking about COP night skiing... but a pass is still $300... i doubt i would use it enough to get good value from it...

right now i think i am going to get 2 sunshine cards, a snowmax card and a ski more card.... anyone know if revelstoke will have a card? my buddy is living out there this season so i will probably get 6-10 days in there this year.

Any one know a good site to buy jackets from? I used to use backcountry but they won't ship the good brands out of the US.

Try Sierra Snowboard. I ordered from them last year and I got my order within the week. They've got some pretty good deals, that is if you can find your size.

I had to drive down to Montana to pick up my package though, since Burton didn't allow their products to be shipped across the border. I think it's only with Burton and every other brand should be okay shipping to Canada.

Can't wait, I need to buy new snowboard boots, anyone have a few recommendations?

I'm still a noob though. I if I am going straight on a flat run, I usually catch an edge. What am I doing wrong?

Hey I wanna try waxing my own board. Where's the best place in town to pick up some wax and a scraper? Or are these stuff cheaper online?

thirty-two boots are awesome... best boots i have ever owned... and i have owned a lot... since all my old ones sucked.

i have no idea how you catch an edge riding straight though

it you truly are riding straight you should be fine being completely flat on the board. if you are turning at all you have to get on an edge.

probably online, everything is always cheaper online haha. but dont forget the iron and the buffer too! and make sure you match your wax for the right temperatures you are riding in... nothing worse than having warm wax on your board in -30 weather...

Thanks! I'll go check them out. Yeah... I think I'm just that bad because it might be my stance which causes my back foot to swing out. Time to get my board waxed!

Nah they suck... They only ship via UPS. It's too much of a pain in the ass to deal with those guys and nevermind their insane price of their tariffs.

Got my seasons pass to sunshine back in May now I am just waiting for the park to open

I did that one season, it becomes a fucking pain in the ass.

Conditions change from day to day here. Usually leave early for Sunshine, stop at Banff and get my board waxed for the conditions that day (if needed) then go out.

I'm considering a Sunshine pass this year, but I work every weekend so probably the Mid-Week one. Had a season pass last year for Whistler when I was out there... Used it twice and got it refunded, snow was ABSOLUTELY FUCKING TERRIBLE!

are the newer ones better? i use to have a pair of dc phantoms (phantom 2s maybe?) the ones witht he air... stupid things stopped filling with air within like 2 trips, took them back and got another pair... same thing happened... and without the air they had the worse pressure points ever.

i don't think it's that much of a hassle waxing your own board. mind you i don't bother with a lot of buffing and i'm not super picky about wax, i just buy a big white block from ski cellar and away i go.

drip, iron, wait a bit(smoke or sip on a beer), then a quick scrape.

i think of it like giving the car a nice wash/quick polish weekly.

Don't know how big you are on back country, or even so the deadly flat spots of Sunshine/Back side of Louise, once you start waxing your board meticulously to the changing conditions, you'll never go back to throwing anything on the bottom of your board.
