Default Money Transfers Canadian To US Bank Accounts

Any one have any suggestions on how to do this?

Keeping up with my US account is a pain.
I have transferred through paypal before but that just takes way to long. 8 days to get money from your Canadian bank to paypal, then another 3 days from paypal to the US bank account

Anyone have any suggestions or Ideas?

    Thanks

yes they do, but for a fee. Also you have to walk you ass down to the bank... in my case my bank is actually 100kms away

I like the comfort of my office chair and the ease of my computer...

I though maybe some one had stumbled upon an easier method.

I just set up a US account and wiretransfer was the recommended way as well. At HSBC they do have one account type that allows it, but it's $50/month in service fees.

I believe it depends on how much money you're transferring. If it's in the over $10,000 range, you'll have a waiting period.

What about having a US account in your primary canadian bank account? Then you're not a slave to the exchange when you transfer the money over?

Wire transfer is same day, cost is $30 on under 10K with TD - other banks may do it for less? You can fax a letter to your bank if you can't make it in and they will handle it all... depending on the bank and if you have a personal banker, you may be able to email it, but I doubt it as they like to have a physical paper trail.

I have a US dollar account tied to my primary bank account. Just simply call up the 1800 number and tell them I want to transfer 10g into US funds. They respond with the current day's rate & I tell them to go ahead. Instant & no additional service charges appear (but the rate usually is high). Don't do any transfers online, because they don't receive priority handling, and you can get fucked out of a hundred dollars in a matter of minutes.

having a US funds account is not my concern, I already have one linked to my current account.

My US bank account deals with American matters and is not there just to hold US funds.

Thanks or the replies so far.

how about an xetrade account (xe.com). I haven't used it but I did sign up for one when I was going to transfer like a gazzilion JPY to Canadian. They have a transfer limit at first (you can call and have it increased here are a few ways of how they can function, read up on them. Usually it is a wire transfer that you initiate from the comfort of your home. The tranfer fees are relatively low if I can remember correctly.

it all depends on how much you wanna send. If its worth it for you 25 bucks fee too send less than 10k is worth it. Given that you are not just sending $100. Fax wire notice can be done with many banks too. It usually gets processed within the hour.

That's what I have for my Canadian and US Accounts. Super easy, I log into my RBC online banking and instantly transfer funds to my RBC Centura account.
