They are lower end, but they aren't BAD. I used a sony deck for over 2 years and never had a single problem with it - although it lacked features. Their subs do get pretty loud but their amps aren't that great.

For a cheap low end Sub, the xplod really isnt that bad.

If you can get some of there older ES stuff then go for it. They are so very HQ gear. The Sony C90 is on of the best SQ decks on the market.

sony took a big drop in quality after the mobile es line was cut from the lineup, now their amps and speakers suck nutz.

i did however buy a sony 610, two sided flip face. Had it for two years and tehn one day overheated and burnt up melting the face off of it. What a POS!

Clarion's rock. I don't really have a strong preference for any aftermarket stereo manufacturer, but if I did shop for a particular brand, it would be Clarion

As for how good Sony's are, they certainly aren't the best, but if you don't know a whole lot about the system and you like the sound, who really cares?

sony xplod subs r pretty good, not exactly meant for pounding ur block, but very clear and good jus for enhancing music, not for poundin ur brains out tho

I've heard that they aren't that good. From what everybody I know has said, you should go Alpine all the way.
