    Default 2010 F150 or 2011 F150

    So I have this dilemma.

    2010s are starting to disappear.
There is a $3000 Recycle your ride program that expires on Sept 30th.
There is a $5894 Employee pricing program that expires on Sept 30th.
There is a $5250 Delivery allowance that may or may not expire.
There is a $1500 Cash incentive to use Ford credit that expires on Sept 30th.
There is a $1000 Costco program that expires on Sept 30th.

This all adds up to a $16644 discount.

    2011s have a $1750 Delivery allowance.
2011s can't be ordered yet and may or may not be ordereable by Sept 30th to take advantage of the above offers.
2011s are likely to go up in Price.

I want an Ecoboost. Why? Turbos work better in Calgary due to the altitude. Tuning them is also usually easy.

I don't need the truck until March 2011ish so the timing would work if I could order it before the end of Sept.

If I can't, which is likely as I am guessing that Ford is waiting on releasing pricing until after the programs expire, do I buy a 2010?

I know I will regret getting something older, but I can't get over the discounts either... haha. I am a cheap half asian.

I am guessing the resale on the 2011s will be much better than the 2010s relatively speaking due to the new V8s and V6s. Besides being a year newer, I think that the 5.0 will hold value better than the 5.4.

So, I know the delivery allowance is likely to increase later in the year 2011. I am also guessing that the Costco program is likely to return. Employee pricing could return, but that would be in July of 2011 which is quite far away... I have no idea if the RYR program will stick around.

    Opinions? haha

My brother has a 1999 f150 on its last legs. Ford said I just have to put him on the purchase agreement to get the credit.

    http://www.fordclassic.ca/ryr/en/

I get $3000. He gets $1500 of it which is better than the $50 he would get from the kidney foundation. Win-win.

Ecoboosts are late availability. So they probably won't be hitting dealer lots until March.

It certainly sounds like the 2011 is the right truck for you. I know I'd wait for the new ones if it fit the budget, discounts or otherwise.

    Same issue.

2011 Raptors come with the 6.2 standard now. But you still can't order them yet.

The Ecoboost can tow more than the 6.2 in stock form. New set of turbos, some tuning and you eat 6.2s for breakfast.

I think the Taurus SHO are putting out 450+ horsepower already.

You can always go aftermarket with suspension to make the F150 as good or better than the raptor.

2011 just because the EcoBoost is gonna be a huge improvement. I think if you buy the 2010 with the 4.6 or 5.4 as great as those engines have been they are dated and you will kick yourself a little bit. Either way you arent going to be disappointed. I love my truck, just IF you can wait, I would wait for the EcoBoost or 5.0L. Im even waiting longer to hopefully get a mid 4L diesel in the next ones (maybe 2013/2014?).

Plus my 5.4 with 4-speed isnt a kyoto friendly vehicle (although I must be honest I am not as disappointed as I thought I was going to be on fuel mileage, I have 35's which are heavy as f*** and I still manage 15 on average (my fuelly includes some offroading and towing)). My lancer used to cost around 140/160 a month in gas, my truck is around 200. So really 40/60 a month is pretty cheap considering my payment is 1/2 what the Audi I wanted to get would be.

Also what the hell is the costco program?

Actually true, look who I am talking to. You arent exactly a model of Kyoto Protocol either.

I drive a 2010 right now and i love it however i think this late in the year you should wait for the 2011. Might also make a difference if you are leasing or buying- if i were buying i would take the 2010, leaseing take the 2011 for sure.

My truck sucks gas pretty hard and there will be improvements on the 2011 5.0L.

Also who ever told you that ordering starts Sept 30th is wrong. Ordering started Sept 3. However pricing isnt available until the 23rd.

PM me if you need details on specs ect.

From what i heard the chance of a Diesel 1/2 Ton is going to be slim.

As soon as the 2011s hit the streets in quantity the 2010s will depreciate rapidly... something to keep in mind.

People said the same thing about my 2001 GTI when the 2002's came out with the nicer VR6 and the 6 speed vs 5 speed... I got a great deal on the 2001 at the time and never had a single regret, years later the price difference between the 01's and the 02's is next to nothing.

Fast forward almost 10 years later, my wifes car lease was due and we're expecting our first child any day now. We started looking at trucks and ended up going with a 2010 F150 Lariat about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Sure the 2011's will have a better engine line up but the 2010's are priced right and still a fantastic truck. I don't know that I would have paid more to get one of the newer engines even if I could have waited.

Personally I love the truck and have zero regrets getting a 2010 vs the 2011. If you can wait for the 2011's to go on sale for the same price as what the 2010 is now then i'd wait, but I wouldn't be worried about regretting the purchase of a 2010 model today.

^ Fair enough, but there's a huge difference when it comes to resale value of a domestic vs an import. Apples & oranges really.

There is a huge difference between the resale of an F150 with the 2v 4.6L V8 and the 3v 4.6L V8.

    The 3v 4.6L V8 sells for a few hundred less than the 5.4L V8.
    The 2v 4.6L V8 sells for a few thousand less than the 5.4L V8.
