Don't know what opinions will be triggered but let's go....
2005 530 (E60) - Front brakes grinding/squealing but not all the time. The idrive advises front pads replace in 22K and rear pads in 4K. I know the car has brake pad sensors but don't know if the idrive information is tied to the sensors or reset by dealer when I bought the car used (certiified). At that time they replaced back brakes.(70K ago).
It's confusing that the fronts are squealing but not recommended for 22K whereas backs had been replaced and idrive says to replace in 4K?
Anyway, the Gallery quoted $1000 for full brake job (rotors/pads). A friend at work recommended Two Square which deal only in European cars (NE Calgary). They gave me estimate for rotors/pads and sensors at $1100. I would have assumed that the dealership would have been far more expensive than independent. Also went to a Brake shop and they quoted $900 for only the pads.
Perhaps the independents use better parts than OEM.
Any comments about the repair interval information and repair shops?
Thanks all
