Calgary Man Has Three Months to Live, Wants to Drive an R8, Can Beyond Help?

Long time lurker, occasional poster here. I understand that Reddit isn't the make a wish foundation, but I've seen some pretty amazing things come to fruition here and I'm hoping I'll be as lucky.

My uncle has been battling colorectal cancer for the last three years and despite some pretty brutal complications he has remained in high spirits and in moderately good health. Three days ago now, while at a post op Dr's appointment he asked his doctor for his opinion and was told that he has between 3 and 4 months to live.

He's a big Audi fan, and currently owns an S4 that's the best car he's ever owned. If he had the dough though, he'd be cruising around in an R8. I was thinking that before he goes, I wanted to see about getting him the chance to drive his dream car and am wondering how you guys think I could go about finding him one.

We're located in Calgary Alberta, and could travel a short distance by plane (2-4 hours one way). Naturally I'd like to not pay an arm an a leg for this experience but can likely afford $1000 CAD to make this happen (not including airfare).

I've looked at luxury car rentals and will be approaching audi dealerships and random R8 drivers come monday, but I'm wondering if you have any other ideas, or might know someone I could solicit for the oppurtunity.

Looks he's going down that route tomorrow. Not sure if any local dealers have demo models in stock though...

Hey badatusrnames, thanks for posting this here , and thank you all for your ideas!

Monday I'm going to be contacting the Audi dealership here in Calgary, and also the one in Edmonton where he bought his. If that fails I'll see what I can do through Corporate Audi.

I've contacted Empire one luxury car club in Vancouver, and have asked if they'll do a rental out of their typical 1-yr membership. We will see how that pans out.

I'll post more details as I have them. Thank you everyone for your support.

I have access to a couple R8's, so I'll make some calls tomorrow to see what can be done.

If I bought the R8 last month he'd be driving it today.

I can't help with an R8 but I just offered to do some portraits free of charge for him and the family with the R8. It's the absolute least I am able to provide

You're both great guys, if this works out, maybe we can see if a Race City track day can be organized, or if this can coincide with an existing one?

We should talk to redlyne_mr2 for his septempber 23rd track day! Wouldn't that be awesome if he could take it around race city for a few laps and ride along in everybody's car all day

Letting someone take your R8 for a spin is one thing... letting them track it is something else. Don't get carried away with other people's generosity.

I can see it now: I only have three months to live and it has always been my dream to bang a redhead. Anyone on here have a redhead girlfriend or wife that they'd be willing to let me take a run at? Thanks.
