This kind of reminds of the Olympics though. Do cities gain overall? From everything I've heard, Calgary was actually one of the few cities to be financially positive by the end of it.

pfffff u don't need AWD for that, in winter rallycross we have 3 seperate classes, FWD, RWD, AWD, it works just fine

Also, to answer an earlier question about noise, last year winter auto-x/rally-x went to a private acreage near Red Deer for an event or 2 but the neighbors complained and they had to stop running events there even tho it's 100% private property and the decibel level was within local law............we need 10,000 ppl infront of City Hall demanding that race city be allowed to remain and expand/update or that a new facility is built..........i honestly cannot see it happening ANY OTHER WAY. If the government does not want to do it you have to rally 10,000+ ppl infront of City Hall and bitch at them until they agree........IMHO the city has already resorted to some very dirty tactics, if we plan to keep race city or have a new facility built we need to start playing as dirty as the city is. Also, if the government is "run" by the citizens of it's country then if we petition the entire city and get enough signature then the city MUST comply by the wishes of it's citizens. Some commercials featuring street racing and advertising race city as a safe place to race or for a new facility it might help rally more ppl to our cause. Something like this needs to be VERY TO THE POINT and it also needs to be fairly creative and catchy so that anyone watching it would want race city to remain or have a new facility built. Adding in some parts about driver training would be good, show a winter accident fender bender, then flash to that person getting winter driver training at a special facility and then flash back to the accident but have that driver avoid it.

How many ppl here work at dealerships? Goto everyone at the dealership and ask them if they support race city or a new facility, if so get them to sign their name to that effect. That would be a really good start to helping this whole process take shape and actually work.

I am also very aware of the badlands project. I did try t contact Jay A. Zelazo thru the website but didnt get anything on the phone. I also havent seen any updates on that site or a supporters facebook page. I dont know where it stands

As for the support - it is there, just have to look. Not far I might add. I would personally love to take over Race City and revitalize it, but the City is against it. They want Race City out for the land. I personally dont believe they are looking at the big picture. Calgary has been with a motorsports park for the past 40 odd years. I personally dont want it to go without one.

You'll probably have better luck talking to Jay at Race City or at an Autocross. Otherwise, I can probably get you in touch with him if you have a legitimate proposal to discuss.

I feel dwarfed by a project that huge.

Are they still pushing on with it? If they are, I would think he has enough on his plate regarding motortracks.

Not sure if your aware of the 'garage condo' style projects, but could be viable for raising some coin.

We are coordinating some work for one out by Calaway Park. Not sure how well they will do since there isnt a track attached. If there was a direct line to a track (like a taxi to a hangar) then it would be premium space.

Sounds good man. PM'd you my email

For the record, there is already a garage condo project being built in the Westhills area. They are even putting in a clubhouse for use by the condo owners. The cost for a garage is $250,000.
