Go talk to the Natives, only way a race track will get anywhere near Calgary once RCMP is gone at the end of next year.

Reasons why Drumheller area wouldn't make a good race track venue...

Make it extremely technical. Elevation gains, decreasing radius and negative camber turns help test the fine skills of any racer. Id make it a good mish-mash of fast to slow progressions. Race City is a decent course, but its so very flat I find it horrendously boring, that and the front straight is way too long for any track. (obviously it serves the purpose of a 1/4 mile track but...)
I really like Laguna Seca myself.
I think that would make a decent focal point to take notes from.

Laguna Seca is a world class track IMO. It also takes advantage of the elevations available in the local terrain. You're not going to find that situation here in the bald ass prairies. It's all fucking flat.

But yeah, nice track. How about Mid-Ohio. Road America. Hahah. Shit, Calgary is never going to have a track like a real road racing track...ever...

So, let's just hope we get a fucking 1/4 mile track somewhere nearby after Race City is finally finished.

I really don't mind the long stretch at race city, gives you a chance to get some good speed going

I would be thrilled with a track that had decent gravel run off areas, not concrete walls & 5' deep ditches. And yes the front straight is way too long.

The front straight only seems long for slow cars. If you're in anything that can hit 260km/H+ then that straight goes by pretty damn quickly.

But yeah, all the Honda guys must have time for coffee and a donut going down that front straight.

I personally want to see a full loop or a tunnel like the one in the SLS commercial.

    -Separate 1/4
    -Multiple length road course
    -Technical (elevations, etc.)
-A tunnel would be fucking PIMP!
-Needs to be certified so we can actually have some events hosted here.
-F1 Certification would be nice... Just saying.
    -Needs scenery too.

Who would foot the bill for a nice track in Calgary? I don't even know how much a proper track would cost but a guess of $15 million can't be too outlandish, the city pay for that? And I doubt there is enough private investors that can foresee motorsports being a big thing in Calgary. Once Race City closes we will have the Ring Road Circuit and that's it

^^ Im projecting between $20 to $40 Million.

The City will not be on the hook for 1 penny

I am currently looking for Private Investors interest in the start up process.

I should have a website set up by the end of next week.

Sorry to sound pessimistic but this is the list you have put together and hope to accumulate up to 40mil in private investment? I hope you have 39 of it in your bank already.

I mean good luck, just seems a little far fetched.

i had a similar idea... but to raise the funds i was going to do it more like a private golf course... sell memberships and have yearly dues... also offer storage, loaner track cars with instruction for people that want to give racing a try, etc... a mechanic's garage with tire mounting...
