are you retarded? They "seize" it and put it into the impound lot, in which it says after 7 days he can pick it up.Originally posted by rob the knob
it is different to have your automobile put in impound not seized

For driving like that, but chances are if we all owned a Ferrari the vast majority of us at one point or another would hit 200km/h (atleast) on a public road
Oh and wow that car looks
even if we didnt own a car like that the vast majority have still hit that speedOriginally posted by 94boosted

Sure doing it on a busy road is pretty stupid but I seriously doubt anyone in here can claim that they have never hit 200 km/h.
Here's the update to the story. Looks like the cars were actually seized and being sold with only 30% going back to the owner of the Ferrari and 70% to the M6. That has to suck.

Pure comedy gold
I can't understant one thing, why the hell doesn't Government make it mandatory for the manufacturers to restrict the speed to 100 kms/hr since the max speed limit is 100 kms on majority of canadian hwys.
Ferrari - 50% to part owner not involved, 30% to owner involved, and 20% to province.Originally posted by roopi

Right. I read as 5% the first time and didn't include in my post.Originally posted by TYMSMNY

You'd be hard pressed to find a 430 Scuderia for over $250,000. Who's the ace reporter that figured out it was $400,000? Fail. How many other "facts" are wrong in this story?

Looks like the BC government made a few pennies on these impounds.

I would have estimated somewhere in the low to mid 300s, 400 is definitely on the high side though. I am sure they just rounded up to make it seem more dramatic.
How is it even legal for the province to auciton off this car? I can understand them seizing it for 7 days or whatever and then slapping the owner with a big fine to get it out but how can they auction off someones property?Originally posted by TYMSMNY

under a zero-tolerance bylaw for street racing. Race it and you could lose it.Originally posted by 94boosted

That's pretty shocking and should definitely send a message to everyone else in the province as a warning.
Can't believe they're actually gonna auction off their cars, how brutal is that. Fucking government cash grabbing.
What do you think a better solution would have been? Each of them being fined $1000 (or a few thousand)? I don't think that would deter the owners of a Ferrari/M6 in any way.Originally posted by Jlude

Hhahaha I love it. Government should keep 100%
Damn street racers!
yikes.
Sucks to be them.
I'm not really disputing the punishment, although that's what I typed, I just hate the government always coming down with a punishment that benefits them as well.Originally posted by roopi

Why not suspend their license for two years... that'll teach em, but that wouldn't put any money in the govs pocket.
