Yep, but his take on it was shallow dof, very wide angle. I wanted to do it differently so I did a tight crop with less dof. I've never shot a car in that spot before so I figured why not, I had to meet him there anywaysOriginally posted by EM1FTW

A little messing around I have some panning shots with shopping carts somewhere too lol.
That's still one of my favorite car shots of all time.Originally posted by mboldt
And probably my favorite of all the shots I've done prints of.
Do you miss the ol 200 F2.0?

Odd how nobody seems to notice the watermarks are both in a rather strange position in both photos. Hmmmm....
Very nice though Mike! Saw this teal colored lambo on the way out to Banff today which made me think of you, wierd how that works.
I've been sick for the past week with the flu so today was the first chance i got try out the new 200mm F2.0 VR lens. I can start by saying I stole this thing for $4,000. I will say it was the nicest investment I've ever made in lens. It makes the 85mm 1.4G look like a toy although both are necessities with different usages.
That being said my client wanted some family photos since they recently adopted a teenage girl. I photographed their wedding some time ago and of course wouldn't mind doing it again. We did the photos in canmore and it was my first real chance to see what the 200mm F2.0 can do. Let me start by saying this lens takes the most incredible portraits. There is just no duplicating it's sharpness, contrast and DOF at F2.0. Literally blows me away.
I think I'm already used to the weight as well. It felt wierd at first but now feels completely comfy for such a big lens.

Yeah he's a bit of a rare blue great dane. I would guess he must be close to around 150 lbs. Awesome dog really, but to me he's kinda like a big playful baby. Was kinda interesting to see a dog stand toe to toe with a human basically giving her a huge lol.
More 200mm loving. This one was shot wide open @ F2.0 to give you the true effect of the bokeh on this beast. I really don't think any other lens I've seen from Nikon comes close to the bokeh this lens delivers. Considering I was playing around with a 600 F4 that is really quite something to say.
Still need to edit these. Very little processing done on these but gives you the idea. First shot is basically as is from the camera.
ISO 200, 1/500s, F2.0, 200mm on a D3s......
First shot is a full just cropped for size, second is a 100% crop of the face. This lens will get used and abused by me as much as possible. I do not at all miss the 70-200 VRII. If anything the old mean joke Nikon has played on us all is that they intentionally stopped production on the lens so that they would have VERY FEW units left to sell off before the VRII comes in. The fact the charts on the VRII are better than the VRI seriously have me feeling sick.
I can't wait to stick a teleconverter on this and try it at 400mm F4. I'm told when used as a 300mm F2.8 its equal to the 300mm F2.8 lens itself.
lol...we'll have to do a side by side comparison
I picked up the fiances D3100 yesterday, and my new, toy an Epson R1900. So far I'm really impressed with both. The quality coming out of the R1900 is surprising, I would put it at like 75% of the 9900 for 10% of the price (granted the size difference has a lot to do with the price too)...I'll have to do some profiling and do a side by side of the same shot with both printers and see what I think.
The D3100 I'm amused by more than anything...it's SO much smaller than anything I've shot with in the last couple years that it's almost comical, even the 24-70 looks massive on the front of it. Focus seems fast and accurate, and image quality is stellar for a camera I paid $550 for(which is another story in itself since vistek offered to sell it to me for $536, and I told them to sell it to me for $549 so I could get the rebate ) I'm off for the next few days so I will try to head out and take some pictures of something other than our cat with it maybe Tuesday and post some samples, I would say canon is going to have there work cut out for them this holiday season.
