Aston Martin Cygnet

Aston is the last manufacturer I ever expected to come out with a car such as this, maybe because of their legendary V12 and V8. But it looks like they see an open market that no exotic car company has taken advantage of yet and made the leap to be the first (unless I am unaware of a similar car).

I can imagine this car doing well over in Europe, but I don't foresee it making its way over here...

I believe that it has to do with fleet emission rules that Europe has imposed. Manufacturers like Lambo who are owned by VW don't have to worry about emissions. Aston has to produce some cars that have very low emissions so their total emissions meet the European standards.

emission laws are so stupid, setting technology back in time and deleting great cars like the rx-8, while encouraging stupid cars like the aston martin cygnet

I thought the idea was that if you bought an aston you also get that car. And you cant just buy it.

aka if someone sees that car they know you have an actual aston.

its an interesting idea....who says a luxury car has to be big?? the whole point of a luxury car is comfort, and ease.

maybe driving a S550, or 750Li is most comfortable in calgary, where the streets, and parking allow these cars to be driven without any headache, But after living in Boston, and traveling all over Europe, i see that its a hassle and a half to drive a massive luxury car in a city that had its roads built prior to the advent of the automobile, and were engineered for horse and carriage.

so for those people who want all the luxury features of a 6 figure price tag car, who dont want to look at cheap plastic and pleather, and still want to be able to commute comfortably without sticking out like a sore thumb, i think this a good solution

They say about it:

Granted; it's not the best looking Aston, but then it's better than the Smart IMO. I'd rock one. The interior looks amazing. Anyone know how much? Doesn't say anything on the site about having to own a 'real' one in order to get the baby that I can see...

With CAFE, it may have to offer it in NA or they may be force to pay a fine. Or they can decide to pass the cost of the fine to customers.

BTW, Cygnet is available to Aston owners. You don't get it for free with other Aston products.
