Default Can you recommend a good sports rehabilitation facility?

Hey guys, I have a sports injury thats been haunting me for about 7 months now.

At the time, i was doing pronators and supinators at the gym ( ie forearm/wrist rotational movements) and somehow injured some soft tissue.
To be precise, when your left arm is infront and in the supinated position (ie palms up) the right side of my wrist where all the bands of tendons are is very very sore.
When it was first injured, I could not lift anything (not even my backpack) nor could i write (as i am left handed). I saw a massage therapist whom eventually did help to relieve the pain completely. 2 months later, the injury has come back and is much worse now. I have tried the same therapist but for some reason he cant help me anymore... What hurts in particular is when i try to rotate my wrist in a counter-clockwise movement, when i try to lift objects in the supinated position and generally when i put a lot of force on wrist. For example yesterday I was doing lying leg curls at the gym and needed to use my arms to brace myself on the machine. This caused my wrist to crack several times and swell up almost instantly (i couldn't tell by looking but i could feel the swelling). I was only doing lower body too.... Before going to the gym my wrist was mostly pain free but as soon as I put pressure on it, the same thing happens and its sore again for a few weeks.

To this point, my doctor has prescribed me 10% NSAID's and told me to wear a wrist spint when i sleep. So far its really done nothing. Infact after i stopped using both i felt like the pain was subsiding. (makes no sense?)

I've had numerous xrays done that came up with nothing. I was hoping someone may have had experience with wrist injuries or know of a good physiotherapist i could check out. I know they're really hard to come by. I have an appointment with a sports med doctor from the uofc but the wait list is backed up to december.

I have tried the downtown sports clinic in the bow valley building and didn't really see any results. Some of my friends have recommended even acupuncture..

    Thanks for the help

This EXACT thing happened to me not too long ago (beginning of September) my injury came from an arm wrestling match, whilst drinking LOL (the shit we do when we're drinking)

I iced it starting the next morning, and kept icing for 72 hrs. when i tried to go to the gym a few days after the incident i found that i couldn't even pick up light weights without HUGE amounts of pain, also rotation of the wrist was an issue...i used an ACE bandage for the first month after the injury, and now for the most part i have full use of the wrist. it still feel like its weak, and i still get pain, and cracking noises when i rotate my wrist, but i try to avoid exercises that require any of those movements.

I used PT for my shoulder when i separated my AC joint (i finally caved and saw the PT after i was in pain for close to 8 months) i went to the clinic in the talisman center, and i really saw no results after a month, so i just stopped going.

have you asked your PCP for a referral to a sports medicine specialists?? im sure you are wasting your time discussing your injury with a PCP.

jay thank you for the reply. as i mentioned, my doctor advised for a wrist splint to let my wrist rest during the night. i'm not quite sure what an elastic bandage would do (would it not just restrict blood flow ie stop swelling which is only present during the first few days of injury?)
    i'll definitely look into that.

yeah i have also been at the talisman centre but that was a while back for a back injury i got. i didnt want to mention it because it was so long ago (hoping they might have improved; guess not)

i'm assuming pcp means family doctor or something? the only referral i've received is for the sport med clinic at UofC which has a huge wait list. guess i may be giving up weight lifting for a while; or sports in general lol

sorry i should have clarified that i only used the ACE bandage as a brace, when i was working out.
