Welcome to Canada! You have now begun the immigration qualification process and are on your way to becoming a citizen in the greatest country in the world.
In the following five years it is important to fulfill your responsibilities as outlined within the New Immigrant pack you requested. Failure to meet these obligations will result in forfeiture of your resident status and set in motion the process to expedite you to your originating country, or to our probationary territory on Baffin Island where you may complete your probation and reapply for resident status in 1 year. During that time you may also apply for residency in another country.
During the 5 year qualification period you are prohibited to be involved in any criminal activities resulting in misdemeanor, or higher level charges. You will be obligated to have reached a level of proficiency in either of the national languages equivalent to a grade 7 standard as averaged between provincial standards. You are required to find and retain employment that will sustain basic standards as detailed within the New Immigrant pack. Language and employment training/placements will be fully subsidized by the Federal New Immigrant Success Program, and after successful completion of the program the applicant will be required to repay a maximum 50% of the costs associated with the program over a period of 10 years.
Successful completion of the 5 year qualification program will result in your acceptance to the citizenship que. While in the que you will have the identical benefits available to you that a citizen would. In addition you now qualify to sponsor your immediate family into the Expedited New Immigrant Program where the path to their citizenship could be completed in less than 3 years. You are solely responsible for the care and well being of any immediate family member participating in the New Immigrant program while under your sponsorship.
