Can anyone translate either the Japanese or the Mandarin? Do they say anything about the crabs dehydrating or smelling funky?

actually... japanese.
I didn't realize Japan had Mao Zedong on its currency
The video is in Japanese, but the vending machines and interviewees are in China.
curious on a translation too but from what I read on gizmodo about it, the crabs are in a state of hibernation at 5 degrees Celsius.

Oh shit! You can get crabs from subway.
You've got to be vigilant, you can get crabs anywhere...
No word on if the crabs get skunky fast, but yeah, they are kept in hibernation at 5c. Also, the sign says they're 100% fresh, and if the crab dies you can get 3-times returned to you.
The first girl just said it's convenient since she could just buy crabs at the subway station instead of going to the market. The second girl was just saying that she doesn't really want to buy them right now but will think of it after she hears about other people buying them. The dude they interviewed after is the president of the group that owns the vending machine I guess; saying that if there's interest in Japan he wants to place them there.
Then it just talked about the Banana and alcohol vending machines in Japan for a bit shown at the end.
Have labour rate gone up so much that they need vending machine?
Last thing I need is stuck in a subway car smelling live crab.
i would buy them and release them in the station if they are cheap enough lol
yea but you're asking for the translation of the video.... nice edit though.Originally posted by D'z Nutz

Had raw northern japan crab (forgot the exact area) and it was SUPER sweet.
What if the plastic box breaks open after it falls? You'll reach in to find a super pissed off crab without any restraints on the claws.
