Default Airleak and cold in attic

We have a really cold draft coming from our attic through our gas fireplace. I think my fireplace isnt sealed properly because I can see light coming in from the attic.

Should there be light or a draft in attic? Should I just seal everything where a draft might be coming from? Someone told me a draft is normal.

    Anyone recommend someone

Your attic requires ventilation or you will have very serious moisture problems later. That is why the insulation is against the ceiling of your house, or the floor of the attic. The top part of it is supposed to breathe and will be close in temperature to the outside. Usually the vents will let some light in, but it never hurts to pop your head up there once in a while and make sure none of the vents have been damaged by hail or have lifted in the wind, or it may let rain/snow into the attic which would be quite bad.

As far as seeing light and feeling a breeze around the fireplace, that is not good. Perhaps pics would help, but it definitely points towards incorrect installation.
