Yeah I dont doubt it will suck but I theyll have to make it worthwhile enough that people dont sell them to others for a better price.

Curious to see how this plays out. Will someone be able to get a few of these guns at a good deal?
Considering you can’t sell them, who is going to buy them? The government is going to offer a shitty buyout and then send the RCMP to collect your guns. If you don’t want to, they’ll take them and ruin your life.

I read first nations are exempt so there would be some potential buyers

You don’t actually own a restricted that’s impacted, do you? It’s pretty clear you don’t understand how this kind of thing works. Or any restricted at all probably

It will be like the Valmet rifles the first time the Liberals did this. All AK variants were banned, except for Valmets because natives used them for hunting. Similar to a Dragonuv.

No idea what the Lieberals are on about this time but I would expect something like that.

I wouldn’t wet your pants over this, there won’t be any DNA tests determining if you can own a cheap AR15.

From what I’ve heard, it’s an exemption on use during the amnesty period. So if you’re FN and used a non-restricted that is now prohibited for sustenance hunting, you can use it for two years or until you replace it. They can’t go running around buying up NR and R guns and using or possessing in perpetuity

Will the RC's at least sell these baby's off on the streets of Detroit to offset some of the cost?

the article I read said first nations can use the guns until a suitable replacement can be found. There were no timelines put on that. Sounds like theyll be able to use the guns in perpetuity real easily.

I'm looking at the list and it looks like only rifles that were sold assembled are banned (for now)? Nothing on AR lowers?

    https://www.documentcloud.org/docume...0-Part-II.html
They got lowers and upper receivers as well, specifically banned them all, it's in there somewhere, and been reported on as well.

You had to have been using the now prohib rifle/whatever already for sustanance hunting at the time the ban went into place, it doesn't work retroactively for FN people.

But the thing is rifles that have now made the prohibited list were non-restricted prior to this. The initial move of AR-15s to the restricted list was a bullshit move in the first place when they left CZs, AR-10 and many more on the non-restricted list. So if you are a FN you could theoretically pick up all of the newly prohibited and previously unrestricted and there is nothing the government can do.

At the end of the day this is all bullshit, curious how many of the new prohibited rifle owners are just going to say "shit i lost mine" or "i got broken into" and just store their guns for the day the conservatives get back into power and scrap any potential legislation. I'm kinda pissed i never picked one up before C-71 came in place.

There is a Grandfathering clause that is being worked on. Last night CBC reported it.

Pretty sure the grandfathering will lead to them being safe queens.

So the reasoning behind the ban is that these guns can only be used for mass murder and no other reason one should own such a gun. Except in the hands of indigenous people. Got it. Not racist at all.

I think the statistics would bear out the idea that white people are more dangerous than natives.

Fucking whiteys need to be covered by some kind of stop and frisk legislation.

Until all semi autos are just thrown on the list with more OICs. That's their endgame.

Haha I was just stirring the pot.

I don’t think anything this government does makes sense and this isn’t any different
