I love my 300 win. Simply because whatever I shoot with it doesn't run off into the woods wounded. Every deer has dropped 5 ft from where I shot it.
To be honest, every deer I have shot with a 243 or 30-30 has never made it more than a few feet either. Never felt the need deer hunting to use anything more potent. Moose or bear maybe, but not deer.

Edit - I do have a sweet new proper lefty 30.06 rather than shooting righty's left handed I am looking to pop it's cherry with though, so maybe I will change my views lol

So I ordered this 6 months ago and it it came in 6 months early. Bank account is almost as pissed as the wife.
Another Browning White Gold Medallion, this time an X-bolt in 300 Win.
That's a good-looking unit, not even as pricey as I would have guessed.

This one may just sit on the rack and get dusty. It's really pretty. Something for the kids to just ooooh and aaaah at. @Sentry Exactly how I worded it. Could be the only reason I'm not homeless.

I say the same thing about my .270 also. Though I've only shot deer with it <300yds, they drop within a step or 2.
I agree completely, wounded tracking is the absolute worst.
Go use it. The scratches create the legacy.

I have a bar 308 that's really pretty and I use it for my treestand gun or raccoon killin gun. It's getting scratched from bush whackin.

This right here, every scratch, ding and dent is a story to tell and a memory made.

I'll start out with some nice open plains hunting with no trees.

Maybe for my next gun I'll find a nice BAR in a light caliber that won't fly outta their hands when they try and shoot it lol.

Been awhile since I've gone shooting and would like to get some friends together for my birthday. I'm interested in shotguns and rifles, ideally at the longest range available where no one needs a PAL. TSE seems like the ticket but wanted to pick your guy's brains.

The AHEIA range at Dewinton is good for shotguns. Good atmosphere and shooting clays is great.

Rifles is tricky, most ranges worth shooting at are private. TSE will do but 50 yards gets old fast even free standing with irons.

Your choices are pretty thin these days, the sport isn’t what it once was unless you are already in the circle.

Party at a gun range when nobody is already a member with a pal is tough.

Anyone have a recommendation for a good gun safe for 12 guns and some above storage space?

    Thanks

I like my costco one, and it's easy to move with a dolly and a strong friend.

I believe this is it (brand name has changed):

Got mine on sale for $700 many years ago. I'm upgrading to a built-in closet one day though.

Storage for 12 guns means you likely need at least an 18 gun safe likely a bigger one. Wait for the Cabelas’ four times a year sales to get their 34 gun safe for $799-$899

The Costco one is way too tight for 12 guns.

Mine basically chock full with 7 rifles/SG’s with handguns stored above on a shelf.

Thanks guys, I’ll try the Costco one out. Beauty of them is that it’s an easy return if it doesn’t work out. Cheers

Sounds like mine with about the same amount in it. Need seperation between some with charging handles etc. sticking out so they aren't piled up against each other

I thought we were talking about house guns. Not truck guns. Truck guns go in the truck obv.

Agree. Mine is packed tight at 14. I figure 10 max scoped rifles / shotguns.
