I got mine in September last year and I only had to wait the minimum. They didnt even call any of my references as I checked with them when I got my license in the mail. It seems to vary alot according to gun nutz

Sounds like not much has changed then - wait shouldn't be more than about a month if things are going smoothly and you stay on top of it. I imagine they get backlogged from time to time though.

Aren’t the reference calls only mandatory for restricted?

My buddy just got his PAL and RPAL last year. I was a reference and never got called before he got his license.

Mine was restricted, I think it depends on the agent handling the file. I either have a very clean record or a lazy agent lol

If I recall you have to have multiple references, and they might only all one of them.

Yup, when I got my R they only called one of my references.

Does anyone know where I could find a 10/22 bolt and receiver in town? Don't want to deal with the hassle of ordering from brownells online. They're all I need to put together a second .22 after upgrading my current one...no thanks to dlask's receivers being perpetually delayed...

Picked up an MR223 a couple months ago. I doubt the ban comes in the form of C71, but rather a unilateral OIC. Rumors are it could be all mag fed semi automatics though not just AR’s.

C71 doesn't specifically have an AR platform ban, it just gives the government wider scope to introduce sweepings bans, should they want to do so. Only the Sig 550/Swiss arms rifles and the CZ 858 class have been specifically listed as moving to a new prohibited class. The owner will have to "apply" for a new license, or face "dispossession", as the government did back in the mid 90s with about a dozen types, without compensation.

Regarding a near future OIC, keep an eye on June 13, the Women's conference in Vancouver where Trudeau and the NZ Prime Minister are both attending.

I absolutely love the sport but the autism surrounding guns from the left and the continuous piling on of punitive regulations makes it hard to stomach.

I like the statistic that more adult Canadians own firearms than play hockey.

I just hope Scheer can pull a rabbit out of his ass this fall and repeal all this lunacy.

Most of the places I'm visiting are out of stock when it comes to ARs with some having no intention of getting more inventory. This is getting ridiculous

What's he looking for? I have an Aero Precision upper and lower combo I bought a few years ago that I never did anything with. If he wants both, I might consider selling.

I didn’t think people were that paranoid to be buying them up. I swear last time I was in CSC they had tons of AR’s in that Center cabinet?

Glad I got my HK though, it’s the only AR I will likely ever want and gets me grandfathered into the class.

What I am really worried about is them restricting my XCR, fuck that’s a fun rifle to have in the woods.

Let me think about it; I'm kinda having second thoughts now. There's a lot of paranoia and fear mongering going around right now that I'm not buying into, but part of me wants to hold onto it to see what happens. If there is a reclassification and I change my mind about wanting an AR I could be SOL (assuming there's no outright ban).

Picked up a Shadow 2 today as I wanted something restricted if a ban comes into place. Would have got a ar lower if any were available but none were. Looks like they still have some full rifles though.

Never done it myself. But Buddy of mine got his palmetto state armour Ar from them.

I think they are pretty legit, but not really cheaper than sourcing it from in country if you can in my experience.

I was looking into using them to get an HK556 but I got lucky and a shipment came in direct to Canada for MR223’s which is actually a closer spec to a real HK416 than The MR556 they get in the states.
