I love my 300 win. Simply because whatever I shoot with it doesn't run off into the woods wounded. Every deer has dropped 5 ft from where I shot it.

To be honest, every deer I have shot with a 243 or 30-30 has never made it more than a few feet either. Never felt the need deer hunting to use anything more potent. Moose or bear maybe, but not deer.

Edit - I do have a sweet new proper lefty 30.06 rather than shooting righty's left handed I am looking to pop it's cherry with though, so maybe I will change my views lol

So I ordered this 6 months ago and it it came in 6 months early. Bank account is almost as pissed as the wife.

This one may just sit on the rack and get dusty. It's really pretty. Something for the kids to just ooooh and aaaah at. @Sentry Exactly how I worded it. Could be the only reason I'm not homeless.

I say the same thing about my .270 also. Though I've only shot deer with it <300yds, they drop within a step or 2.
I agree completely, wounded tracking is the absolute worst.

Go use it. The scratches create the legacy.

I have a bar 308 that's really pretty and I use it for my treestand gun or raccoon killin gun. It's getting scratched from bush whackin.

I have a bar 308 that's really pretty ...

I'll start out with some nice open plains hunting with no trees.

Maybe for my next gun I'll find a nice BAR in a light caliber that won't fly outta their hands when they try and shoot it lol.
