I looking for a sedan or 5 door with lots of torque, decent gas mileage, and have narrowed it down to these 2. any opinions?

STi doeSnt have decent gas mileage. You are better off with a 335. Better mileage and more power. More refinement.

Any experience with how the 335d handles compared to the 11 sti?
Sorry, I was talking about the 335i.
Driven the d a couple of times. It handles like any 3 series. Power delivery is weird. I had an 09 STi for about 6 months. '11s are supposed to be better, but I would take the BMW over the STi.

I've always liked the torque of diesels, and from what I've read, the D is as fast as the I. lots of potential as well. any other 335D or STI feedback?
BMW of course! if you do only an ecu remap on the 335d, it gives around 40-60hp and up to 100 torque ft/lb more!
Plus the gas consumption is 10000000000 better than any gas powered.

Go for the BMW man, I dont even think this is a good comp. I personally think BMWs are the best looking cars on the road.
I'm gonna agree with everyone here and go with a BMW.
