Default Wierd Issues with Adobe Photoshop CS5

Not sure how many of you own Adobe Photoshop CS5 but figured I'd post this here first to try to get some info and input. Basic story I bought CS5 two months ago through adobe and was quite happy.

Last week I get a notice saying the serial number is no longer valid. I've never installed it on more than one computer or anything like that.

Only thing I could think of is somebody somewhere else in the world used a keygen program that got my number and now mine doesn't work. Adobe hasn't been overly helpful in solving the situation. Essentially I'm without adobe as we speak and it's not fun after paying $800 for it.

    A) Has anybody ever had this happen to them with other adobe products?

    B) am I within my right to go to my credit card company to have the transaction reversed?

On a side note Adobe customer support now appears to be based somewhere overseas and I think this only adds to the complication. When you speak with Dave from India on the phone and can barely understand him it's a problem.

This has happened with other software too. Recently Nikon Capture NX2 released a new version. People would download it and then be told their CD key is no longer valid in some cases. If they could prove they purchased the product legit, Nikon gave them a new CD key. I don't see why this should be any different with Adobe, if they are giving you the run around maybe just get a new copy through your CC.

I've never in my life had success with India based "customer service" departments - it seems they only exist to frustrate the customer into no longer pursuing their grievance. If you can even understand them, you're lucky.

There are a ton of people who don't feel the need to pay for software as expensive as something like CS5, it wouldn't surprise me if someone's keygen somewhere got your number. Anyone can go get a flawless copy of CS5 for free and in about 15min have it downloaded & installed - I can't imagine how many illegal users there must be.

As much as outsourced customer service sucks, you'll just have to deal with it... Just call them and explain to them your situation. It honestly can't be THAT bad.

If they refuse to fix the situation, then definitely reverse the charge on your CC, but I'm sure if you have proof that you paid for it, you'll be fine.
