Default Nenshi took city council to the Silver Dragon.

    http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/sh...600/story.html

For dinner. Whoa... Seriously. I dunno, I'm pretty sure that councellors are a little more used to dinners that are $500+ as opposed to up to $95.

Klein would have dinner (and drinks) all the time in Chinatown, but he never managed to get the rest of council to come with him as a group.

    Thoughts?

Silver Dragon is still too much, get them a bowl of pho each next time, add a spring roll if they behave.

I like what i am seeing so far from him, seriously, $22,000 to setup wireless....yah for like super enterprise setup with a bunch of APs ect, but really, if he just needs wireless there is nothing wrong with a $80 dollar router with WPA2 ecryption, why go hardcore when all you need is to cut the damn wire.

Pho is ok for a filler, but a good thick beef noodle is way better.

I haven't had an epic ginger beef in years. Its like this generation forgot the art of proper "pulling" beef before cooking it, so sad.

But I still prefer a duck above any beef.

I think $80 is just about right for the bandwidth he would need. I mean its not like hes downloading GIS maps or HDporn, or anything. Who in the heck quoted him $22,000? Thats what I want to know.

It is possible to spend $22,000 on a Cisco or Juniper, but thats usually for serving thousands of people.

I've got a rusty Cisco mil-spec military grade, dual redundant powersupply - including EMI shielding in case of nuclear attack with an EMI pulse (and I'm not kidding) it serves 24+2, and I bought it many years ago - for $120.

I like the line what Nenshi say in the Herald article:

"I'm a firm believer that if you look after the pennies, the dollars will take care of themselves," Nenshi said this week in a meeting with the Herald's editorial board.

^ He has about the same belief as mine.

But, but, management is what makes a company run! The workers are just unhappy peons anyways who don't deserve anything!

hrm, I work for a large public institution, and although we do have a departmental christmas party, we have to pay for it OURSELVES.

Nenshi is clearly imposing his religious will on us all. What's next, cancelling lunch during Ramadan?!

While I have always lived by the similar sounding, but completely opposite saying "Don't trip over the dollars trying to pick up pennies"...

Both have a time and place, but if you focus too much on saving pennies short term, the dollars get missed long term...

Haha yeah. We're lucky if we get a veggies and dip tray comped for most Christmas parties I've had.
