I am trying to find the best 'G' router and adapter for my laptop, I'm using Shaw Cable for internet. I'm not sure what brands are better than others, any help will be appreciated.

They're pretty much all the same. Get the cheapest one you can.
in future, plz try to remember to post topics like these in the computers forum
I like the featureset and GUI of the Linksys routers.

Linksys seems to be fine for me. You have to unplug the power once in a while.
Every once in a while it seems to get sooooooo slow and I was reading that if you just unplugged the power for a few seconds it takes care of it. (It does actually work). I imagine there is a firmware fix for this but thats to much work.
I hear the MS ones suck so you might want to find out more about those if you are considering one.
We also just got a Linksys router. It was gonna be a toss up between Linksys and D-link, but after doing some searches here and a few other forums, people seemed to complain about the D-links a bit (Microsoft and SMC even more). I think Futureshop has some US Robotics wireless routers on sale right now, but I wasn't able to find any review about those (which may have said something about it's quality in itself).
Futureshop and Staples should still have some mail-in rebate offers going on right now too, so you may want to look into those.
Interestingly enough, we couldn't seem to get the Linksys cards working, but the D-link cards pretty much worked out the box.
I've used a USR one at work. They're OK, your basic router. Linksys has way more advanced stuff.
I've never had to "unplug" my linksys at home. It's been on behind UPS power for a few months now.

I have a 802.1b Microsoft Wireless hub and PC card for my laptop and it works GREAT! It is a "b" router so it would be slower than a "g" but if you just want it for broadband internet you won't notice a difference.
LOL this is what I do as well...Originally posted by roopi

But I still love the product...
