    Default dead battery

My mom tried to help me charge my dead battery after leaving my lights on. While doing so she reversed the positive and negative on my car. I tried to turn the car on, not knowing she did this, and my horn started to blow. I jumped out and unclamped the cables right away. I had my battery recharged and tested and it was bad. I bought and installed a new one along with a new battery fuse and nothing still. No lights, no door alarm, no click when trying to turn it over. Thoughts?

Maybe you fried one of your battery cables. How are the rest of the fuses?

    Default dead battery

The main fuse was busted, so I replaced that. I didn't check the battery cables. I'll do that in the morning. The only other fuse that was busted was a 7.5 amp back-up radio fuse. The rest of them looked fine. Yeah, it's a 98 cr-v.

get a test light and check all the fusible links
open up the big bundle of wires that split off from your battery, you;ll see some wires with plastic tags on them (1.5amp or somthing like that)

If you fried it bad enough to explode your fuses, you probably fried your ECU. Hope a fusible link caught it. Just follow back from battery to ecu. Bend the wires with your hand to see if they are still pliable. If not the wires are burnt inside.

    good luck

i did that with my friend... i hooked it up right on my car with red to red and black to engine block, and on his car i couldnt see the pos/neg so i assumed all batteries are same and hooked it up that way and the cable on my battery (red) started to smoke after 15 sec and melted a bit.. i havent noticed any wierd sideeffects.. my friends car is carbed though and his is running fine.. so your's might not have damaged anything besides fuses

I did that once on my bro's '69 cougar. After the white smoke cleared, the alternator was fried, and all the wiring between the battery and the alternator was fried. Good thing it was an old car cuz, pick you part wiring: $0, pick your part alternator: $10. Good old pick your part. Cant find stuff for the CRV in there though, hopefully if the main fuse blew then it prevented any damage to the ECU

If your battery starts to burn just from a boost, your battery cells probably fried in the battery. Replace it before it completrly burns all. Replace battery, test wires with a tester and then try to start it. Good luck.

    I'm trying to help.

Anyways, you need to check the wires with a tester. I know this has been said so I hope noone shits on my wheaties for sayin it.

If your stuck dude take it to a shop, you may have to admit defeat.

Make your ma pay for it, she fried it.
