Default FS: 17" MBP (Mid 2010 model - Spill Damage)

Bought a 17" MBP in mid 2010 and a few weeks ago it my roommates dog knocked over a glass of Pepsi onto it.

The motherboard is fried, but everything else works still. I have no idea what it's worth at this point, it was 3300.00 when bought. I've already bought a new MBP, so I guess someone could use this for parts or replace the motherboard and use it.

    It's being sold as is.

    Here are the specs:

2.8 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
    6mb shared level 2 cache
    4gb of 1066Mhz DDR3 SDRAM
    500gb 5400rpm hard drive
17 inch LED back lit anti glare screen
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processors with 512mb of GDDR3 memory
    Built in iSight video camera
    8x DVD superdrive
    Mini Display Port
etc. (typical display ports and whatever else comes on a MBP)

Still have the box, receipt and everything that comes with it.

I know I need a price, so I'll throw it up at $1200.00. (I've checked ebay and this price seems fair) but of course, it's obo.

I'll throw up pictures later when I have a chance to take some.

I had a motherboard replaced on a similar spec MacBook pro. It was 15 inch though. AppleCare covered it as my graphics card was overheating but the tech showed me the part before taking my computer in. The logic board had a price tag of about 960 dollars on it. So if you are assuming that is the only thing wrong with it which is probably not true that is how much it would cost to fix it.

Because it's a laptop, and a Mac at that, you would also have to take into consideration the cost of the effort necessary to replace the logic board. I'm guessing it's a 4 hour job at $80-$100/hour.

I think you would get a much better price if you got it fixed and then sold it.

I will. I've been very busy... I'll take them this weekend when I go into the office. I don't have a screwdriver small enough to take off the back, but my IT guy will be in on Monday and I'll get him to do it.

Here are some pictures... don't have a small enough screwdriver to take off the back, IT guy will bring it in tomorrow.

I took the HD out so that I could copy it over to my new MBP

Still don't have a screwdriver to open the laptop up. Will do it on Monday. Bump in the meantime.

That's my mistake, when creating the thread I put (mid 2010 model) but was probably thinking that because of my new MBP.

Hopefully a mod can change the thread title.

    Sorry for the confusion.

    Like I said, it's not a 2010 model, it's a mid 2009 model. I made a mistake in the thread title.

I'm sure there are many members here who know me and can vouch for me. I'm not out to scam anyone, just wanna get this sold.
