    Default SE BRT review

    hey all,

I'm currently driving from McKenzie to downtown, but the drive is starting to become very frustrating, deerfoot back logged to 130th and 6:45am. So it takes about 45 miniutes to drive to downtown.

I was wondering if any beyond members frequent the BRT? does it actually get you to downtown in 40min during the am rush?

how is the return trip, traffic and crowed wise around 4?

    thank you,

I have no experience with the SE BRT, but I find the 301 is usually fairly efficient.

    how long is the trip?

I know I can use the CT website, but those times are usually not accurate for rush hour.

The 301 is the West BRT. From Suncor - Sirocco Plaza on a good day is usually 20-40 minutes just depending. The traffic on Bow and all the West LRT construction is a real bitch to get around.

I can't comment on the 302, because that is a completely different route.

If you change your start time to 7am, traffic is much better!

I take the Mckenzie Towne express (117) in the morning, and the BRT 302 in the afternoon.

I'd say it takes 40-45min each way. I catch it at 6:52-6:55 in the morning and get to my office on 6th ave around 7:45 with a bit of walking.

I take the 302 on the way home because it seems like it comes more often than the 117 and there are sometimes a few of them that have a lot of spare seats.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

I thought so too, until I started taking the 3 and arriving at exactly the same time, but having a shorter walk to the bus stop in the am.

In the pm, they also are within 1 min of each other. Not worth the overcrowding IMO.

Takes me 1 hour from 52nd and new brighton drive (last stop before 130th) to walk into the door at work 10th ave 8th street. About 10 mins walk or so. Every week more and more people seem to be taking the bus and it is getting alot more crowded

I leave McKenzie @6:15 and takes me 30minutes to DT. Leave DT @4:00 takes 40 minutes if no big issues on Deerfoot. Driving is more convenient.

It takes me about an hour +/-, each direction, to go from New Brighton to U of C area driving. In the mornings I leave around 6:30am and I head home around 4:30pm.

Winter won't be fun, but it seems like traffic is already quite a bit worse than it was this time last year.

I definitely don't want to take the bus or c-train though, so I suck it up.

When I use to catch the 301 it was packed in the morning, standing (and crowded at that) room only. Not fun having to stand for nearly an hour the whole way in. There are not nearly enough of them in the morning.

Home it was better, but only because my stop downtown was one of the first so you got a seat.
They are rapid, but only if its not rush hour.

I can see the new Park & Ride lot on 114 Ave from my office and there are getting to be more & more cars in the lot every week. If it isn't a packed like crazy now it will be soon. With all the giant hassle of getting downtown I don't know why anyone who lives in the 'burbs would ever want to work downtown. I guess some people don't have a choice but a friend of mine who recently took a job downtown (50% bump in pay) quit after two months because of the hour each way commute.

It seems like everyone I know in Mckenzie is complaining about the commute to DT.

I am so glad I didn't end up buying there.
