HAHA I get some chuckles how people around here in these days as it is now... "Happy Holidays" seems to be the more sufferance in use. You know what? it may be true for people when it come to making money in business. That's how I see that way and compare to what I used to remember years ago.

I grew up always saying "Merry Christmas" to my family and friends because that was how I know surrounding me around. Back then, stores never put up decorations until well into last week of Novmeber! As years move on to now - stores are putting BOTH Halloween and Christmas decorations. This year I had witnessed a few stores doing that! Unbelieveable and all for the sheer scent of money profits.

I can guarantee you it will be earlier in the next 2-3 years before a week of Halloween! I wouldn`t be surprised if it do. I had already seen "back to School" sale in JULY!

Bah! All for the name of money - people are going to shout "Happy Holidays" Well, guess what? I don't care anyway. If they want say that to me - I'll say "Merry Christmas" in return. If I know one going away for the holidays then I'll say Happy Holidays for this reason - not for the spent of money at stores!

...Because that was how it was to me since as a kid! And BTW, it's not because of Christ's birthday as the 25th - the truth is no one really know exact the DAY Jesus was born. Closest they can get was the month (give a month before or take next... it's moot)

    So its ok to say:
    Happy Nowruz!
    Happy Eid!
    Happy chanukah!

But not Merry Christmas? Being inclusive does not mean to make taboo one religious holiday for the benefit of the rest.

Personally, I don't care what you call it. I do care when people tell you what to call it.

I like to mix it up a little.

    "Happy Christmas", or "Merry Holidays".

I do the same with sneezing, I'll say "bless me", and
someone 4/5 times says "excuse you" without even
    thinking about it.

Mind you with xmas, if someone says any standard greeting
to me, I just say bah-humbug.

I always, and will continue to wish Merry/Happy Christmas to people.

    I support Abeo's statement 100%.

Anyone else have the South Park episode going through their head?

"Merry fucking christmas, it's Jesus' birthday. So get of your heathen ass and fucking celebrate!"

Merry Christmas for me. I don't see the big deal, and if people get offended when I say it to them, that's not my intent. It would be like saying "Have a nice day" for me.
I'm in Taiwan now. Business/school runs as usual right through christmas time around here.

I don't really give a crap what people say. As someone else already posted, just don't tell me what I can and can't say.

Merry Christmas sounds gay, Happy Christmas sounds stupid. So really I'm stuck pretending that I'm Jewish.

I use both. Anyone who gets upset about the use of one over the other can go suck it. Find something important to worry about.

I never say anything. If someone says Merry Christmas, Happy holidays, etc. to me I just say "thanks".

I'm not one for pointless sentiments. Fuck christmas.

(and yes, i'm white...raised christian...blah, blah, blah, I just think christmas is a joke and a waste of time so I don't do it)

Is it some sort of paradox that I think we need to be intolerant of this stupid "tolerance attitude" sometimes?

I mean I'm an immigrant to Canada, and even I think this shit is ridiculous. You come into someone else's country, and tell them what they can and can't SAY on their personal holiday?

True, but it's not really the immigrants who complain about this bs. For blame, look no farther than the nearest bleeding heart liberal sociologist

I might say "Merry Christmas" on Christmas day but everything is closed anyways and it is within my family.

I use Happy Holidays ALL the time because it is plural and includes everything and can extend before and after Christmas day.

Seriously. Who actually says Merry Christmas on December 21?

I hate how people get offended if you say Merry Christmas. I make sure to say Merry christmas instead of happy holidays. I'm not really religious either btw, just grew up that way. If they don't celebrate Christmas, by all means, they are welcome to go into work on the 25th while the rest of us enjoy ourselves.

I had a guy say merry christmas to me yesterday haha. What I find really funny is the people who say happy holidays as to not offend someone, when jahib at the petro can says merry christmas to me and has for like 10 years, and he barely speaks english. Nobody gets offended, retarded people think people get offended.
