I *HATED* nectar. overpriced crap.
Chiasso and Artigiano are incredible

I had a great coffee down across from city hall.. I think it was called Insomnia ? I had a meeting there a few weeks back and thought it was a great location to take my wife (it's right by city hall/olympic plaza).
Cafe Artigiano makes a good, proper, cup of coffee. All of the chain stores do not. Deville (Art Central building) is good too and more of a hangout with couches, wine, and cheese available if you are looking for a date spot.
Phil and Sebastian's. BY FAR the BEST coffee i've ever had in my entire life. Not kidding. Locations in Marda Loop and Chinook Mall.
I find their room design to be a bit sterile, though, and it can get pretty loud in the marda loop location, however, it's very upbeat and would probably be really good for a date. (I'm usually looking to work in a coffeehouse, though, so i don't like it for that reason.)
when working, I really like Weed's Cafe in the NW, or that one in the craftsman style house in Marda Loop. Their coffee isn't nearly as good as P&S, though.
Cafe Artigiano for sure. Went to their store in Vancouver years ago, was pumped when they moved out here!Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

Phil & Sebastian in Marda loop or Chinook Mall for computer work.
No where nice enough yet to read.
Just take her to Tim Horton's man. Nothing like a Coffee shop that's a CDN icon haha
It's cheaper too. Lge dbl dbl for $1.64 or get a Lgd cafe mocha (hot choc.+coffee+whip) for $2.25 and snack on some donuts lol
Keep it real dude. Don't need to impress the chick that much. Set the bar too high in the beginning and she'll only expect moar later cause she thinks you are that chill.

Shit, there's only 49 users here, I doubt we'll even break 100
^that only works on white chicks.

Can be more clubby on weekends (music wise) but lots of different couches and chairs to chill in, good coffee and they serve booze too..

If you don't want the whip and want to impress with your money management just get half coffee half hot chocolate - I think its the same price as just a Double Double.

Kawa, great atmosphere, drinks, free wifi and alcohol too.
One of my favourite places to go but it's no Coffee shop, if anything it's a Martini lounge. Ming's is also another place that I would put with Vicious Circle, both are good spots for dates.Originally posted by bignerd

+10 for Kawa, its the best all round coffee shop in Calgary. Great coffee, rare beers, wine, great snacks, lots of comfy chairs and a modern feel inside.
I also really like Cafe Beano for their coffee, i love chilling out front on the benches during the summer...
higher ground +1
their rolo coffee
